If they don't spend any cash on TV/print/more general audience wherever they are, then the casual fan is unaware, and you certainly aren't going to get the next generation.
It's a slow death.
I am gutted by the awful deterioration in the quality of the NZ Herald which has become a PR bulletin board and the attitudes of several unions who make no effort to inform and attract both devoted and potential fans. It all seems money and ideology driven to me. The NZRU needs to address this with the media the stakeholders and their Unions or the game will continue to slowly die in my view.
This is all made worse by the awful clickbait articles and writers promoted by Rugby pass and Stuff. Get people who are passionate supporters of the game to write with emotion and passion and not push opiniated waffle designed to draw emotions good and bad from the clickbait headlines.
Just look at Matty Johns and colleagues who do a wonderful job of promoting league and drawing out player personalities. Fantastic viewing. And they get a few days to build stories and fan interest when teams are named every Tuesday. Naming the teams on Saturday for first round of NPC Sunday is an absolute disgrace. The media people at those unions should be given ultimatums by NZRU to tidy up their act in my view. -

How many times do these clowns need to be told it would be nice to hear what the questions are they're answering?

Taranaki at $4.33 to win the Championship - good value?
Depends if they get that same ref/TMO combo every week.
Yep, still smarting from loss on Saturday, stupidly watched extended highlights as well and wound myself up even more.

@bovidae well we missed 39 apparently, so by my estimation based on how little ball we had, I'd say we made 2 out of 3 tackles (dont think there are stats pages anymore?)...and far be it for me to defend Hawkins, but he is a tough little buggar who never shies away from his defensive work, just got this one very wrong.

I expected a lot more from this guy.
“Tai’s made some great strides with the PIC Steelers since joining us at the start of last year”
Has he? He's recruited well but Counties fans should not be happy with the results
12 games and 3 wins (Southland, Manawatu & Taranaki)
He has a very good reputation. However as a first class head coach it seems unearned at the moment
