Frizell assaults woman

@tim Above all, I'd prefer them to give game time to a player who's already in the squad: Ethan Blackadder.
And no bias in that opinion at all…

I'd prefer to know what actually happened, before calling it badly handled.
Clearly it is serious enough for it to be a matter for a court. Given it involved alleged violent behaviour against a woman, Shannon Frizell should not be representing NZ until after his court appearance. He will have a chance to clear his name then.

@stargazer Slap on the wrist. Weak from Foster and co.
What makes you say that?

Yes, exactly. It's been alleged. You understand that right?
He admitted it in the article above, and apologised.

Ah fuck this fluffybunny. Just like Sevu. I just wish our All Blacks wouldn't assault people. Fucking disgraceful. I'm fine with rehabilitation for people who do these things but people like this shouldn't be public figures and representing our nation.
have to say, when i was at uni in dunners most people that used their diversions did so for things like taking a piss somewhere a little too public or in one case nicking all the pool balls from a pub, maybe pinching a road sign...not so much fighting let alone hitting a woman
Not that I am taking his side, but 'hitting a woman' is not what this def is. Assault can be pushing someone over, bump into someone in a bar, they push you, you push them, they fall over, knocking their girlfriend to the ground too (cos you're a huge AB) - that's it your up for assault. Doesn't matter if they pushed first, you assaulted them. As we don't know the facts, you can't just go to hitting - when assault is a ridiculous range of things

At the moment the only punishment is some public humiliation and going to whatever anger management course his lawyer enlists him in.
I would like to see him removed from the current AB squad. At least then there would be a financial penalty. It also serves as a warning to others
We have a perfectly good squad replacement in Robinson. He should've made the original squad IMO
After that I don't really care. It sounds like a low level incident - he can come back later if he's good enough (..and based on his efforts at Test level so far, he is not good enough)
Yup
None of us know what happened. It could be something minor like I got dragged into recently. A bit of incidental bumping on the dance floor between a male and female, boyfriend gets all manly and fronts the guy who bumped his girl. Males face off , bit of pushing, female gets in the middle and cops a stray punch. Male now subsequently looking at the possibility of an assault charge on the female. A big fucking mess with all parties contributing. Like most drunken assaults.

@sparky DV doesn't seem to factor too heavily into AB selection policy
As long as you're not a dick about it then it's fine

Yep - I was all anti-Sevu Reece, until I stumbled across one description of what his "male assaults female" incident (might have) entailed, and reading it... between the lines... it seemed more like "pissed-up-female is a fucking nightmare, pissed-up boyfriend tries to deal with it but fucks up in a clumsy (rather than aggressive) manner".
But... much like this incident... we're all just reading after-the-fact shit that crappy NZ newspapers decide to share, and... fuck knows.
