We looked good in that second half. Injected a bit of speed with a couple of substitutes too.
Matildas are a well coached side.

The university I work at here in Japan was chosen as one of the first workplaces in the country to give vaccines to students and staff with great fanfare from the govt. in the media starting on June 21st. After much fluffing about, we received an e-mail today saying the whole program is canceled before one vaccine is given and a message that said, "Please get a vaccine from your local government!" (Yeah, right, we are talking about next year at the earliest) I honestly cannot believe the incompetence on display. It is Benny Hill on steroids.
Fuck the Olympics!
All foreigners including permanent residents are banned from entering Japan even if they are married to a Japanese, have kids, a job etc. It is a fucking tragedy for a lot of people. I have students who can't get into the country and are studying online just waiting for permission to enter.
VIPs and athletes are streaming into Japan as we speak. Bach the fluffybunny came into the country last week waving to people from his car like he was the fucking Queen.
Fuck the Olympics and all it stands for!Well you’ll be happy to know that the exalted premier of Qld Pallachook will be there. According to her it would be a “disaster” if she wasn’t. Must be words of comfort for those with family who are barred from entering. I’m hoping Brisbane doesn’t win the games. Not because of Pallachook but it would be hilarious if Brisbane didn’t win despite her essential presence.
I'd like the current government to personally take on the liability for the massive debt Qld will incur for this ridiculous vanity project. bet they wouldn't be so blasé about spending public money on white elephants then.
Just hope there's plenty of infrastructure to design and build between now and booboo's retirement.
Aren’t you in South Australia @booboo ?
Don’t forget cobber, Queensland infrastructure is for Queenslanders. South Australia infrastructure is for you.
Not for about 14 and a half years.
Sheesh, I’m slow to the party. Don’t mistake me for @MN5
😉
I don’t want anything to do with this

That was their first win with this coach! Aust have more quality in their side and haven't lost to NZ in decades.
I didn't watch the game but wasn't surprised at the result. The biggest surprise was a goal (albeit late) as the Football Ferns really struggle to put the ball into the net on this stage.

Yank chicks lost the kicky ball stuff to Sweden 3-0.
Getting some Twitter stick because of some opinion pieces saying how easy it would be for them.

@machpants FOOTball (sorry, pet peeve).
Let's do a history lesson, the term soccer (from Association Football, to stop confuion with rugger) was used several years before the term football (on it's own) was used to refer to just one type of football. Therefore soccer is the correct term, I'm a traditionalist

It was always soccer down under until NZers and Australians moved to the UK en masse and got indoctrinated.

Tokyo Opening Ceremony Director Fired For Historical Holocaust Joke
Kentaro Kobayashi, tasked with leading the Olympics’ opening ceremony this Friday, July 23, became the subject of controversy after a 1998 TV skit in which he joked about a game called ‘Let’s play massacre the Jews’ did the rounds on Japanese social media.

Are the Australian football team still called the Socceroos? It was always soccer growing up in the early 80s

It was soccer even in the UK until 1980s ish, then that came to be seen as 'american' - but really football/footy is the dominant code in your area
UK publication usage of soccer

This study suggests otherwise. The conclusions are on page 17.
