Massive opportunity now for the Canes to secure a home Grand Final and to lift the trophy in front of the best Rugby fans in the world.

Massive opportunity to be as bad as the Chiefs and actually lose a game in SRTT! 🙂

Are you predicting a red card for Jordie?

Hurricanes playing club rugby on Saturday, 5 June

    Wellington
    Pepesana Patafilo (Tawa)
    Peter Umaga-Jensen (Wainuiomata)
    Danny Toala (Wellington)
    Vaea Fifita (Wellington)

By the way, I've noticed that Murphy Taramai is back playing in Wellington (Upper Hutt Rams). Could that mean he'll move from North Harbour to the Wellington Lions for NPC? That's assuming he's no longer in the Hurricanes' frame.

    Auckland
    Lolagi Visinia (Suburbs)

    Manawatu
    Liam Mitchell (Te Kawau)

Peter Umaga-Jensen scored a try, kicked 4 conversions and a penalty.
Danny Toala kicked 2 conversions and a penalty.
    Vaea Fifita scored a try.

Their clubs will be happy to have their SR players.

@stargazer What they hey, how is PUJ playing club rugby (and why is Danny playing in Wellington)?

@nepia PUJ is playing club rugby because he's not with the team in Oz?

I assume Danny is playing in Wellington because there was no club rugby in Hawke's Bay, this weekend, and it looks like he's not allowed to play the preseason game on Monday, either.

Edited to add that I'm not sure why they even bother to keep him fit as he won't get game time this season anyway. Although, maybe if they lose tonight and are out of final's contention, he might play the last game. 🤔

Edited to add 2: if they lose tonight, they'll find a way to keep Toala out of next week's squad. PUJ might get game time though.

    Edited to add 3: f*ck.

They were more rhetorical questions rather than literal ones. 🙂

@stargazer surprising tbh. For some reason Holland prefers the old man so I thought he'd move.

@yeetyaah He's had much more game time during SR T-T than SRA. I think he's gradually pushing Goosen out of the 23 (or at least to the bench).

@stargazer I’m really surprised thought he would’ve signed with someone else I guess the gametime this year has helped.

Hurricanes playing club rugby on Sat 12 June 2021:

Almost no one? I'm waiting for the Hawke's Bay team sheets to be published, but I wonder whether they've all been given the Saturday off? I assume they'll await the results of Saturday's SR TT games before the end-of-season celebrations begin, but maybe they're all in Wellington?

Oh, and there is good news: Jamie Booth will be back playing this weekend. He's on the teamsheet for Varsity (Manawatu).

@sparky just the way the cookie crumbles I’m afraid. We had our chance to be in the final and botched it. Would have been nice but the Blues and Highlanders deserve to be there.

Onwards and upwards though. Big positive for me this year was seeing the continued development of D Flanders, Aumua starting to come into his own and dominate, and also the emergence of the Roigard/Love combination. Would like to see more of it next year but I’d assume Perenara will take the reigns when he comes back in.

Excited to see what D Bird and O Franks can bring to the table aswell, they will be invaluable to some of the younger players in the squad in 2022.

Most likely as heard the Hurricanes "end of season bonding session" took place yesterday afternoon/evening. We await the ferrets from Stuff to provide a match report (complete with photographic evidence if a professional entertainer was involved so we can rate said entertainer's performance standard) from that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@tim surely he would be seen as a squaddie behind Eklund though?

Pretty experienced (although still only 26) but hardly an inspiring signing otherwise.
