Brumbies v Hurricanes

@mariner4life seriously? I thought it was bad enough when the music in the ground kept playing when we were throwing line outs last week but that is too much

I made the grave mistake of accepting a free ticket and going to watch that travesty.
Not enough the Hurricanes were awful, or had to deal with hometown TMO input, or that the stadium is a cold shithole. Worst is being surrounded by Brumbies fans who know nothing about rugby, complain endlessly at the top of their voices. To the point you have to ask why they go if their only objective is to force an aneurysm.
That crowd was probably the worst I've ever heard.
It would make a great thread.
Worst Rugby crowd you've ever been part of.

@kruse at the Chiefs v reds last weekend the sideline guy was pumped through the PA
" oooooh what do we think about that Queensland??!!"
Boooooo
Guy on the PA when the card happens
" yaaaaaaaaaay!!!"
That's fucked.

Haha. I was given a ticket and when I saw it was zero degrees outside and the wind shield at Bruce stadium is the worst ever, I was not going anywhere near that game.
The fact the rugby was dire vindicated my decision.
Aussie rugby is BACK!

Prinsep
Prinsep is so much better than the chumps that the Canes fans hype up every week.
Like Blackwell?

I wouldn’t accept a free ticket to Canberra let alone a Brumbies game in June.

Every single penalty call against their team - BOOOOO...! Regardless of validity.
As soon as a chance of a card arose... "Off! Off! Off! Off!" - regardless of validity. And then a massive "BOOOOO!" when a Yellow was given.I know all home-crowds are some-what one-eyed in these regards, but this was just so much more feral. Was it a crowd of people not knowing rugby, and therefore just parochial without knowledge of the laws? Or just... dicks?
Both. Brumbies supporters are generally speaking the worst I've ever seen. Massive chip on their shoulders, ignorant and more concerned with their team winning to bring some joy to their miserable middle level public servant lives than actually enjoying rugby. There's just enough of them in a small crowd to ruin it for everyone.
It is annoying that our record in Canberra is so bad, we have to take all their shit and still don't come away with a win to stuff down their faces

Haha ok so Jordie isn’t up to AB level because he choked with his kicks tonight. So who is? Dmac who choked with his kicking in the SRA final?
Jordie definitely rushed those kicks though, why?Lets be honest though, this comp would be even more of a joke if this Canes team made the final.
Before the thing started, I was wondering whether they'd make the final a sort of conference final - between the top NZ team and the top Oz team.
They'll be breathing a sigh of relief they didn't go down that road.

I had the Brumbies to win by 6, so the canes did well....
-
@taniwharugby I also backed the brumbies on the tipping and the Tab so I’m quite happy the way they played they deserved to lose.

Me too, so happy to be vindicated 😭

Does anybody know how far back you can go? Never dreamed a penalty and subsequent "not 10" penalty can be brushed aside for a knock on, (more spurious than the Reds knock on in a try from a goaline ruck).
What a strange way to use replays. Why not go all the way back to the brumbies player diving on a prone Jordie Barrett when he retrieved that kick behind? Blatant penalty.
I'm imagining a game where we stand around for an hour after the game while the tmo pours over footage for missed knock ons🙂 " don't get changed yet boys, we're looking for knock ons!"

Weirdly won a few games at the end with penalty kicks last year I remember.
There was also a game at the Caketin I remember when JB missed an easy late penalty before succeeding with a more difficult kick to win it. IIRC the same happened in the Taranaki RS challenge against Canterbury, where he missed some earlier penalty kicks. He's had his moments with the boot, good and bad.

There was an interesting article the other day on the difference between the two balls used in Super Rugby TT.
Adidas balls used in NZ and Gilbert used in Aus.
Less round than the usual Gilbert ball, the Adidas is slightly longer taking on a closer feel to a rugby league ball, it has a different grip pattern but can get picked up in the breeze a lot easier, making the Gilbert the ball of choice for passing on those windier days according to Melbourne Rebels centre Reece Hodge.
