@raznomore Easily a future world champ imo. Don't think he'll get gold at Tokyo (Jalolov has his number), but he's well on his way to winning a world title. Fighting Gallen will get him much needed exposure which is very important in the pro game, and whether people like him or not, Lonergan is a good promoter.

Weird how my opinion of these two has flipped. But who knows how much is AJ and how much is his management. That tweet was clearly from the thumbs of Fury π€£

He definitely went to the same school as @Virgil by the looks of things.

Mayweather has decided he'll get rich..er off idiots and in the process whoop some ass
So did anyone watch the whole thing?
I saw a clip of Paul's wild punches at the end of the first and then another clip later in the fight of an exhausted Paul missing punches by a mile.
Sounds like that was most of the action?

Just watched it
Seen a lot worse, a LOT worse from pros.
Despite the height, weight and age difference Paul came out of this the better of the two IMHO
He's athletic and looked the part; he was was game and never backed down; solid left jab; hell of a chin fair play; and in the post-match interview he came across as someone who knows he's a very fortunate 'fan' who gets to do this.
Mayweather obviously playing the long game by not finishing him.
Let's hope Woodley floors Jake Paul.

@duluth I thought about it and then decided to work instead lol.
Saw a handful of highlights and theres a video doing the rounds today of what looks like Mayweather sleeping Paul with a couple in close, but definitely not power, punches. Floyd grabs him just as Paul is about to go down and basically holds him up and sends him off to his corner.
Thats the most dangerous aspect of these types of fights. When a legit boxer fights a novice. The YouTuber does not have a trained neck or chin. He's not worked on that aspect for the amount of time Floyd would have or any other real boxer has. And the little peck on the chin he received highlights that. Someone like Gallen goes ok because he's got no neck. Theres always a bit of boxing thrown in footy training somewhere along the way and by the way he throws punches he's not entirely a novice. He's done this somewhere along the line. But Paul, a natural athlete by the looks to his credit, has not. You can tell by the way he was throwing slaps. The over hand right he threw, was all wrist. If he'd known what to do (and I'll give him props for setting up the opportunity and actually landing a potential KO shot on the greatest defensive fighter of the modern era if not ever) would have been lights out. These cats can't throw proper punches and they don't have the training to take real shots to the head. It's a recipe for disaster. Floyd could have KOd Paul but I think he likes him. He chose to put on a good show(not sure that's what they produced) and looked after Paul, clearly based on that video.

Absolutely all of this. I donβt think casual observers a) know how well boxers can throw a punch and b) know how well boxers can take a punch. Iβm sure that even someone not noted for his knockout power like Mayweather could have dropped Paul any time he really felt like it. Heβd better make sure in his next self promoting circus that he doesnβt step in the ring with any half decent heavyweight who takes an inkling of a dislike to him.
