Great skill and very entertaining final in atrocious conditions.
Are you lot playing under different rules below the Equator?
Two unequivocal red cards.
Based on the 6 Nations, those would have been two flat reds. The
All Blackscrusaders players better get ready before the Tests roll around for crazy Northern Hemisphere card-waving refs and their lust to be the centre of attention.Yes

All the talk on the breakdown about MacKenzie and the clutch. When it really counted in the final Mounga had the clutch and MacKenzie melted under the pressure.
Nah. Don’t think it was the pressure just the wrong night to have a bad one. RMs early miss was probably the worst one of the night.
It’s only May, but the 2021 Knight in Shining Armour Award goes to....
I just have to say that Mo'unga isn't that good and any number of southerners (and my Magpies whanaunga @Stargazer too probably) will take the award in a canter.
But why on earth would you do that?
Well as you know he sometimes misses kicking the ball out from penalties.
Cool story bro. Totes worth it. Hope it make you feel good.
HEY! This is a great chance for you to also bring up any Crusaders from the past that you also think weren't that good.
I actually had no involvement in the Mo'unga missing kicking all the ball out from penalties thread ... but gave you a chance to dust off the armour anyway.

Guess I've been away too long and maybe a Canes fan too long. But I find it really hard to get too excited over a SRA title.
I think the longer I'm out of NZ, the less I care about provincial stuff, and the more I care about the AB's
Thats me in a nutshell these days ,
I watch these games with the Allblacks being the much bigger picture in mind

@booboo Samisoni is fourth behind Taylor, Coles & Aumua
You'd have thought, huh? Common wisdom would rank them that way. But I could envisage him higher up that ranking.

Those three missed penalties were huge.
Form Dagg it's not uncommon, unfortunately some former players like Dagg and Wheeler get to tied up in the result of their teams, and may just forget their jobs. Happens a bit with former players who are still mixing with the teams on social basis I think.
-
@booboo he’s been good but he’s not in front of Aumua. Aumua has been a beast despite his injury this year and nothing that Samisoni has done changes that order for me. Others may have different opinions.
Coles is nearing the end of his international career though so he may get a look in then.

I'm still comfortable with both Taylor and Reece's yellow cards, however, I think both, particularly Reece's warrants further inspection from the citing commissioner...that said, if either, particularly Reece's had been a red, I'd have agreed with it too.
I reckon if Reece hadn't of been done through the ridiculous captains referral, then he'd be cited for sure, and likely had some enforced leave.
Maybe they need to put any yellow for dangerous play up in front of the commissioner?
As for the captains referral, this is gone for the TT Comp isn't it?
Given this is a rule that doesn't really work when you put it down through the levels, surely it shouldn't be part of the game at the top?
Sure we want the officials to get it right, but jeez the only thing these referrals have added to the game is time and more frustration at the officials.
I can understand the theory behind the referrals but the nature of our game ensures they won't work.
I'm actually looking forward to the TT rugby!
-
@taniwharugby I with you, I hope referrals are tossed out, and certainly hope we don't get the rubbish kicking to touch ones from Australia. Just play rugby!
-
Haven't seen the game so won't comment on it but I have read the thread. Some of you should be posting on the Conspiracies thread. You will be most welcome.
@Yeetyaah, what did you think of the refs?

He's dead on top of a hill after "LMAO" too many times. Only so many asses that you can laugh off.

11th title nice
12th title in total SRA and SR
and maybe the only team to ever win SRA
-
Imagine the kerfuffle if Razor finally gets the job and the ABs don't conquer all and sundry in style.
No pressure Mr Robertson.
-
@taniwharugby I'm also looking forward to it! Might head along to the Brumbies game next week. It'll have been a couple of years since I've attended a SR game against international opposition

Just the vibe I got from the game is I'm not as down about the All Blacks as I was. Played at pace with great skill.
Foster.
Don't buy in to the hate.

@crazy-horse I didn't think they were too bad. After sobering up I don't think the Chiefs played to win. However, if Will Jordan's tackle on Jonah Lowe was high infront of the tryline, that's a penalty try. If the contact is direct to the head, that's a red card. Bridge didn't even try to ground the ball in the ingoal area which is a penalty.

Reece could have been a red given previous examples of similar tackles. It would have been unjust for Taylor to get a red in my opinion, it was a bouncing ball that Dmac jumped for and all Taylor knew was it was overthrown and he needed to make a tackle. Yellow was fair.

Its only a penalty if he deliberately bats it dead, he doesn't have to try and ground it.
IMO he tried to hook at it to get it bagk to him, much like that attempt to intercept that doesn't quite come off.

Yeah you totally should have won. Any team who can't or won't take advantage of a two man advantage really deserves to win.
Kind of reminds me of what I deem the Crusaders' nadir under Blackadder which was a miserable home game against the Sharks where they were down to 14 and 13 at one stage and we never even looked like winning.
