Has Gatland confirmed the squad size yet? I suppose that is dependent on how many games are to be played.

Looks like the magic number is 36

Some interesting selections in that article. And the original itinerary remains too.

Alun Wyn Jones will be unveiled on Thursday (Friday NZT) as the British and Irish Lions captain of a 36-man squad to face South Africa, which is set to include England exile Sam Simmonds.

Fat Billy to miss out to Simmonds.

Anyone watching the stream? 45 minutes of babbling and the squad hasn't even been named yet.

I gave up after 10 minutes - I'll read the team list later.

Really not interested in 30 minute dialogues on what being a Lion means

Love the BBC's comment: "And you thought Uefa could spin out a Champions League draw..."

Dunno who to support tbh. Kiwi connection in the Lions plus I'm Welsh from a couple of generations ago. Idk suppose I'll see how I feel when the games roll around.

@yeahtheboys that's crazy, he's class. Aki, Harris and Henshaw might have featured more in the highlights this season, but the selectors have missed a trick here.

Possibly a few who declined selection like Ben Youngs, but some very lucky boys in that squad

A few surprises for me, in no particular order: Chris Harris, Elliot Daly Jack Conan, Jonny Hill, Bundee Aki.

More surprises about some of those left out I guess. Sexton not a surprise for me, I'd maybe pick him for a one off game but a series, not so much. Sinckler is one that does surprise me and Tomos Williams too.
