Word is the powers that be are going to regulate bat dimensions. Heard 70mm "deep". Source is a Cricket Aus/BBL coach
Think that means Khawaja and Warner's current bats would be too big
Plans have been identified to include a sth and a north island team in BBL in about 3-4 years.

Update,50mm will be the depth limit.Warner and khawaja bats are about 70 to 80 mm

Just let the Aussie approach come into play more & it evens it up...

Hard but fair.
-
Another reason James Franklin gets more contracts than Guptill is that Franklin plays less international cricket, so is available more. Guptill getting selected regularly for the test side has probably contributed a lot to not getting signed to 20/20 contracts.

Similarly considering he couldn't buy a test wicket towards the end of his career 456 wickets at 27 is awesome. He's almost our very own Mark Ramprakash.

I went to college with Franklin and he was very much a "batter who could bat" who was also very good with the ball. I watched him hit 100 after 100 after 100 so was very surprised to see him bowling and batting at 9 when he first hit the scene. From memory I think Hadlee really liked what he saw with the ball so encouraged him to focus on that.

I think Franklin was a huge talent that was very poorly managed by NZC, as were a lot of players around that time. -

I agree, I was a real fan of Jimmy but some of his international returns made that tough at times. Sir Paddles apparently said he was like a left handed version of himself. At international level Cairns and Oram were better options though so perhaps Anderson or Neesham will end up with a similar return especially given the emergence of Santner.

....which brings me to my next point.....good on him for "making" the team of the tourney, surprising only two WI players made it, I guess everyone from the squad had at least one moment of brilliance and if they failed someone else stepped up. Sammy must be one hell of a canny and inspirational captain cos as a player he didn't do shit.
-

That was a warm up pre tournament. He's done that a fair few times at ODI level too. Couple of years ago he came in late & raped us in an ODI in NZ I think... I'm not saying he's great, but he's a hugely under-rated player
-

Definitely, you're not wrong there I rate him too and remember an awesome partnership between him and Russell, it was raining sixes all over the place. I wasn't rating his tournament as poor as such just pointing out he literally didn't do much.
-

And for those who listen to your station, for them to sit and listen to their cousin and their grandson being bagged like that is absolutely unconscionable and I'm his mother and I'm totally brassed off."

Heath denied that and again went down the line of what an amazing cricketer Stokes was.

"I get that, but what I'm saying is, for my family – and a lot of my family have rung me and said 'have you heard this, Deb?' – I'm just really disappointed. Say those things and then temper it with some positives. Have a look on Twitter, see the likes of Kevin Pietersen, Tino Best, Graham Onions – all of those people giving him their support because they know that tomorrow is another day," Deborah Stokes replied.

Agreed. Part and parcel with the large paychecks that come from being a professional sportsman is that people will bag you when you make a horrendous fuck up. 19 off the last over should have been defendable. People have every right to criticise
-

If you want to go down that route. Chris Gayle scores a sublime 100 not out game 1.

What odds can you get he will score less than 115 runs in total in the tournament?

What odds can you get that he will score between 1 & 5 in the semi & final?

Cause thats a faaaaaaaaaaaaar easier one than Stokes going for 4 6's
-

this is Chris Gayle. If he got a hundred in the opener, i would think he'd be paying about $1.15 to score fuck all in the rest of the tournament.

Oh, and just on the above, we're not really ret-conning James Franklin in to a good all-rounder are we?
-

I think Jimmy Franklin should have been heaps better than he actually was. I think he focused a bit on the batting so the bowling suffered in later years if memory serves.
