@winger Very mixed bag. His option-taking is a bit off at times, but also some really nice kicks. Definitely not ready for SR. Same with tackling. Some bad misses, but also made some great ones.
The little I've seen of him (SFA) he didn't even look close to being robust enough at this time for super rugby. Give him a few years and lots of body building and then maybe.

@stargazer scrum has turned to shite aswell. Walker not adding much at all.
-
@canes4life It's his side of the scrum that's holding. It goes wrong at TH. Can't do it on his own.
-
@stargazer Canes their own worst enemy, just stupid mistakes have cost them. They just looked a little bit shit tbh.
-
@canes4life they were just as bad as the top tyre I wonder if Holland and Gibbes added there input onto the team before they came to Taupo certainly play like it

My 2 cents on the second half:
Better third quarter from the Canes U20; especially Godfrey was brilliant at times. Chiefs defence very good though.
After the benches were emptied, the game stalled a bit and neither team managed to get over the line much.
Canes U20s too impatient, which lead to both errors and giving away penalties. Chiefs had the advantage of the scoreboard and stuck to their structures. They definitely deserved their win.
Over the whole game, I think the best Chiefs' forward was Broughten and the best Canes' forward was Lakai. Best Chiefs' back was Lucas Cashmore and best Canes' back was Harry Godfrey.
The Canes starting frontrow was much better than that of the Chiefs, but Strang should work hard on his throwing. Midfield for next game should include Thompson-Dunn, probably for Brown, who was the weakest link there. Both wingers disappointing, too. If only they had selected Joeli Suka ...
I wonder whether Godfrey and Morgan should change roles? Maybe start Goerke instead of Saveatama, too.
Anyway, off to a birthday, so will miss the rest of the games.

@Stargazer Jury scored the Chiefs second try.
After just watching a replay I agree that the best Chiefs forwards were Broughten, along with Reuben. Not sure what was happening in the scrums (too many BOP players ) but the Chiefs scrum improved when the subs came on. Vaipulu is a tall unit but does he provide any grunt? Cook-Savage was good from fullback.
The weather in the first half wasn't great so that led to some handling errors, and both halfbacks struggled a little with their passing. The weather improved in the 2nd half and for the remaining games.

@cgrant Higgins had more knock-ons, missed tackles and other handling errors, but in the highlights alone he misses the tackle that leads to the second Chiefs' try, butchers a try scoring opportunity by dotting down too early (short) and is offside for the failed intercept attempt (giving away 3 points). He didn't have a great first half (even the commentators mention it several times), but his second half was better. His second try was the result of some good quick thinking; his first was created by Godfrey and he basically only had to dot it down. No doubt he has talent and definitely a good work rate, but the second half highlights are flattering him and he definitely wasn't the best back on the field. That was Godfrey by a country mile, but unfortunately, you can't see that in the highlights.
@mikey07 You may be rights about that 5-year-contract haha.
