I’m not convinced that Jordie was that good. If you took away TJs gushing over everything he did and just watched his play criticality there is a huge amount to criticise.
His clearing and decisions in the 22 were very poor. I’m not sure if it was coaches instructions but he sp nt more time bullying Love out of position than he did at 15.
The kid makes highlight reels and gets his name called out a lot for sure but that was a mixed bag out there today.Tell you what crucial, Jodie was clearly the best 16 on the field today!

Crusaders very lucky that Canes out brain-farted them tonight. Just consistnetly stupid play unfortunately, and poor kicking from JB.
Ah well, another Crusaders win. Looks like it's Blues or Chiefs in teh finals ... go the Blues next weekend.
Well not as lucky that the idiots somewhere decided we needed this adomnation of thinking that ended up with extra time with a draw. I know it's aimed at the TV viewers who don't have the ability to understand that a draw is actually a very valid result!

@canes4life I thought Jordie was pretty good at 10 today!
I don't mind if he plays fullback - he's not fast enough to play wing.
Where the AB coaches have missed a trick, IMO, is shifting him around wing, first five and fullback - when if they were going to try any experiments with him - I'd love to see him playing 2nd five.
Size-wise he could play a sort of SBW game, with better kicking and probably passing skills.
However, if they put him there now - they'll look like they're really fucking him about.

I'd be pretty confident it was the coaches instructions.
Love out there with his training wheels on - if I were the Canes coaches I'd certainly have had him playing second fiddle to Jordie wherever possible.
Not really apropos to your post (though I think Jordie is in this category), but I think you've got to give a lot of ABs a bit of latitude in some of the stuff they try at Super level, that they're hopefully not going to try in tests when they've got better players around them.
The pressure comes on to make the big play that's going to win the game. When those plays don't come off they can look stupid - but, when the plays do - they look like geniuses.

Would prefer to see Jordie as a 12 longer term. Thought he was a bit indecisive at times today but still great impact. Just watched most of game then read posts here. Mystified by the excessive negativity about some players and blinkers on others. My upset if I supported Canes would be at Mafileo who showed distinct lack of energy when most needed. He should have protected his 9 better for the clearance and ambled through the last few minutes. I felt the game was won when Barrett called correctly on the toss.
Blackwell had a huge workrate throughout which complements some of the more individual stuff elsewhere. Campbell was much better than Hall too. Thought Whitelock and Bridge both went well. -
@taniwharugby agree on that. Canes live and die on individual bursts but too often they are reckless

I dont mind the golden point. Maybe I don't care enough about the purely of the table and the comp anymore given how little I watch? But I liked the drama, even though my team was on the wrong side of it today. it also gives the players a little of that big-game feel, the need to score next, the need to get into the right part of the field and set up for a droppie. I think it could provide good pressure experience for the bigger stage.
Love was fun to watch tonight, really enjoyed seeing a young guy play with confidence. So much to be said for that first touch of the ball going well! But we should also give JB some credit for helping the young guy. For a 10, he really had to do limited 10 duties. No kicking for goal, no restarts, no responsibility for exits. He also barely played 1st receiver in phase play.
None of that is a criticism of the young fella, it's a really good way to introduce him, just an observation that he didn't really lead the team around the park as a 10 is typically expected to do, he just had free reign to play with energy.

TJ is starting to really annoy with his commentary. Too much like a fan ( for Ta$man players ). I know that creating excitement is their job but sometimes it rubs.
The ex players commentating do a mixed job as well - hard to criticise another player. Someone like Kane Hames always impressed.

For some reason, Hall looked really laboured out there.
Bridge started really well. I noticed him less as the game went on. Will Jordan was the opposite - which makes me wonder if they play the same role a bit much and Big Leicester is a better fit if Jordan is at fullback?
Maybe the converse when Havili is at fullback.

IWL
is IWL potential AB lock material? I don't see his name mentioned much here in that capacity but he seems to have some potential...

I was really impressed with the Canes jersey in the 52 mins I watched before I had to go out, well except Laumape he’s playing like he’s already on the plane and generally doesn’t care so he might aswell jump on the plane now would rather they play Toloa or someone at 12. Maybe Aso

Really enjoyed this game.
Haven't read the thread.
Would have settled for the draw.
Need to check with Stan if they were prepared for extra time as the feed cut off pretty much straight after the winning dg.
Any thoughts on potential foul play by Dunshea with forearm to throat a few phases prior? Canes missed a captain's challenge?
