@chris this is the Canes coaching mindset problem in a nutshell IMHO
Rayasi is dangerous, he's hard to defend. He can score tries, and create tries
We aren't go to win if we don't have players like this
That should overshadow any perceived work rate issue, which a good coach would be able to solve.
to be honest I haven't noticed this with Rayasi. Rayasi is not why we're losing and for Holland to mention this publicly is incredibly disappointing
He can't see problems which 99% of fans point out here and on Facebook each week
Yeah totally agree. the Canes have always been hard to beat because of their X factor players as they are unpredictable. It seems now these coaches are dampening the X factor down for journeyman.
'His work rate off the ball' ?!?!?
Has the coach watched Julian? He does nothing

Doesn’t look like it he’s blinded I think

Holland commented about Rayasi's workrate off the ball earlier in the season so this isn't new. I do think it is a big work-on for him. I'd still select Rayasi over Savea though!
It was only one game, but quite a big one - in the NPC Final I (and plenty of the media) expected Rayasi would be a major factor in killing off Ta$man.
In the event, he was largely anonymous.

I'm really hoping for some sort of bounce back from the Crusaders after last week's debacle, and a vastly improved performance. Not only were they tentative defensively and at the breakdown, but their error rate was ridiculously high. They never got into the match. I'm interested to see how Whetukamokamo Douglas goes at 6, he's had limited opportunities this season. Also looking forward to seeing how Jager goes starting and how our back three of Jordan, Reece and Bridge combine together as a unit.

Plus Sanders returning from injury on the bench. He looked like he was about to break through after the North/South game but hasn't had much time since then.
A questions for the Cantabs - what do you think of Grace at 8? I rate him but he looks more suited to 6?

I think you will see a major bounce back. The Canes know it’s coming and the only question is whether they can counter it.

I agree that he's more suited to 6. He plays very tight, basically like a 3rd lock. And he lacks the top-end acceleration off the back of the scrum that an elite 8 needs. If the Crusaders had more depth in their backrow I don't think he'd be playing 8 right now. He looks like a blindside flanker covering at no.8, IMO.

Yep agree Grace is better suited to 6 it seems with Blackadder back its a matter of trying to get both on the field in the starting 15.
