British and Irishions plan to go ahead with tour of South Africa:
I was going to say, it's hard to pick a squad without knowing how many games will be played. That article suggests that the tour itinerary is not finalised either.

@pakman for the test team?
I’m not qualified.
Defeatist.
Have you ever tried learning Welsh?
Peidiwch â bod yn hurt.

Yep
Watson over LRZ?
Nah

Springbokke will be more or less the same as in the WC final. F Louw retired and currently it look like Marco van Staden will be his replacement.
Backup for Pollard a worry at the moment. Probably Jantjies next in line.

Not so cut and dried IMO. The Malteser is ahead I think but factor in that Watson has been labouring in a dysfunctional team AND has the pedigree. Close call but I’d be happy with either.

Suggestion is that ‘extras’ will be two props, one hooker, one lock, one halfback, and one back three.
If six props taken, I’d hazard a guess at Furlong/Sinckler/Porter on TH and Jones/Vunipola/Marler on LH. Which would leave Healy and Sutherland very unlucky.
Hooker I’d expect Owens/George and Cowan-Dickie.

Marler should be nowhere near this squad

CJ Stander & Duhan vd Merwe can make the team.
SA Rugbymag Duhan dv Merwe
"The South African revealed that he secretly harboured hopes of sneaking through the back into the British & Irish Lions squad next year for their highly anticipated tour to his native country. But with his Scotland debut delayed and the continued uncertainty surrounding the 2020 international season, Van der Merwe feels his slender, outside chance of making the elite team has vanished.
‘If given the opportunity, I would definitely want to play for the British & Irish Lions. I think it is the biggest honour you can achieve in world rugby. However, it’s unlikely as time isn’t really on my side with the whole Covid-19 pandemic situation,’ he rued"

Covid and national duties to blame.
