could be really interesting, Jimmy has been a good "villain" but we could do with someone new to shake our fists at
-
@kiwiwomble I've heard Bertarelli was keen if it was to be hosted in Europe, not so much if Auckland is 'the Home of the America's Cup'

Probably thinks that it will be easier to buy our team again if it isn't in NZ.

both helmsman thanking the race organisers straight away, nice touch
So are you on board now? They knew what they were doing re conditions?
Idiotic comments from someone (not you - that has probably never sailed on the Waitamata) about "sailing indoors" aside, the sailors and the organisers really did know what was best for the event / contest.
-
@snowy i never claimed they didn;t know what they were doing in regards to the rules, i was one of the first to point out that even though we could see them sailing around at decent speed it must be different elsewhere on the course
never said the organisers weren't doing a good job, merely pointed out the way you described the reasons for calling it off actually sounded like something that would be really interesting to watch and was quite clear that that was purely from the standpoint of a non sailor

Yep, that was clear.

Nope, that is why they called it off. Dogmeat's post did explain it quite well as to why it wouldn't be interesting at all.
As for the rules, they have a set of conditions that fall within parameters to create a contest and they followed them. Nice work.

sorry...are you trying to tell me what i can and cant find interesting?
dogmeat did give a good explanation of why it wouldn't be interesting...for you
you seem to struggle to understand people can understand something and still have different opinions

Of course we can different opinions, but the people who have been doing this for many years don't agree with you as to what makes a yacht race.

We're allowed to speculate on things we might like to see, we talk about rugby rules all the time...
So what do you think are the acceptable wind limits? Variation in direction and speed?
-
this thread had kind of wrapped up nicely with the win and now you've brought back up something you didn't like from a few days ago?

He must be a woman

i take it im not allowed to say i also miss sail changes and the potential drama associated, dragging a spinnaker for too long and your lead is gone, can't say that because theyre not part of this rule? how about if i dared to say ive seen a lot of chat about wider courses and that sounded interesting too?

Spinnaker in the water was replaced by belly in the water. That was pretty damn exciting
