@gt12 No depth forcing players to play through injury or return early, combined with less rotation?

@canes4life Also not forgetting at the peak of the Jordie hype, I was told that Jordie is so talented he can play any position in the backline, yet playing at 14 (as near as you could get to 15) he suddenly loses all his superpowers.

Btw Jordans amazing game at 14 last year where he did more in 20 mins than Jordie did all season, Jordan was also out of position at 15.

I think Clayton will start with DMac at 10 and Trask at 15 once he's off the injury list.

That seems like it must be a factor. We've been carrying some foodbills for a while too. I love Moli but the NZRU should allow you to carry extras in that situation.

@bones so your argument against him is the run he had that set up a try if it wasnt for the leading elbow by the chiefs player? NICE!

The Fakatava - Smith start - bench ploy worked a treat.

@canes4life Jordie had games at fullback, and was just as average. People seem to forget this.

Only 1 for the AB's though? Hes a key man at FB for the Canes

Shame about Gatland but he just lost focus in this game. Maybe he can do better if given a 2nd go but hes a limited player and his limitation were exposed in this game

I think the Chiefs are really missing someone like Rettalick. Someone that takes no shit, takes the lead and just gets stuck into his work.

Seems like the Chiefs are the new Blues and just can’t buy a trick.

I think every side in the world is missing someone like Brodie Retallick.

@bones read as very sarcastic XD...in either case, Gatland has no future at 10 for this Chiefs team. There is literally no ceiling for this team with a player that limited at 10.

It was only the Chiefs' first game. Too soon to write a player off.

@kpkanz just made me laugh that when you popped up defending Damian, the only time I could recall you posting was months ago....defending Damian 🙂

Him at 10 and Trask at 15 could settle in nicely, going off what I saw in NPC.

@bones hahahah to be fair rugby season just started up again but yes..I think he has great talent if used correctly. You may see me start arguing for Jordan more if I feel he's being unjustly critiqued. Waste of time but the discussion is fun.

Don’t worry about writing players off, just write the whole team off.

Making up the numbers, appeasing the bean counters, North Island politics, no good players want to move to Hamilton, meanwhile Gatland’s appointment is all sweet cuz...

Well I never learn, tipping I went for Chiefs in upset, f*** me I never learn 😠 . Still I enjoyed game, know there a lot of penalties but not bad early season game. Chiefs need a bit of depth I think, agree Gatland was disappointing.

I’m still trying to understand why, with only that much time left, they decided to kick for goal, knowing that it would still be a two score game.

Something’s a bit rotten at the Chiefs; we’ve been on the slide to the worst NZ side since Rennie left (is there one big signing since he left?) and I’m starting wonder if last year was rock bottom.

Honestly, would that team come close to another NZ team?
