He lost his starting position after being poor in his first few starts. And never did enough to reclaim it

ok, yeah, that's the impression I got, had some real talent but probably needed the luxury of a few starts in a row to settle in, not a luxury easily found in SRA
I feel for him, hope he gets a good gig somewhere

Tyler Bleyendaal has joined the coaching staff.
So is that a straight swap for Carlos?

I thought it was due to cutting costs when they laid Carlos off.

Tyler was obviously very cheap, is not like he has a huge CV to up his coaching value!

@Nepia @stargazer At least he has not become yet another ex Canterbrian that has been foistered onto us at the Magpies so that, at least, is something to be thankful for. The restless nights from the Philpott era (error?) still cause me difficulty.
Be interesting to see if he can accomplish anything better than the Hammatuer?

Spencer's job included backs, defence and skills. IIRC, Cory Jane is the defence coach? The Hurricanes' media release doesn't say what Bleyendaal's job will be. I assume he'll be the backs coach?
I'm glad the Canes signed someone from outside Wellington .... Maybe he's the one who can be convinced that the Canes need someone like McClutchie instead of another unproven Wellington kid!
-
@Stargazer I'd rather Garden-Bachop at 10 than McLutchie, he was solid for the Canes this year and deserves the first opportunity. McLutchie is good on attack but he's been nothing but a turnstile on defence at Mitre 10 level, which I'm assuming is why he doesn't have a contract with anyone.
I'm hoping that out of all the options Ruben Love is the guy that gets the most development in the next year. I feel like he will be the Canes main playmaker in the future. Looks to be the best equipped.
