Argentina Two: Newcastle, 28 November

I have just rewatched first half and feel like the RM critics must have watched a different game - assume it will all go to shit in the 2nd. Only bad judgement I could see was his cross kick to JB when he could have possibly created a three on two overlap with loads of space 20 out from the line

well can everyone agree there are problems at 10 and midfield?
Halfback behind A Smith, especially looking at the future. We desperately need Fakatava to get decent game time for the Highlanders to see if the talent he's shown at 1st XV and Mitre 10 Cup level also translates into being a good SR player. If it does, they need to chuck him in the ABs frame asap.
The only one in-between - from an age perspective - is Mitch Drummond at 26. (Bryn Hall is 28). TTT (25) is just too slow IMO and I've found Enari a bit disappointing thus far.

I cannot express just how much i hate seeing Clarke being played on the ball while dane Coles stands on the wing watching the game
This!!

@Stargazer Nock is only 24, just needs Leon to pick him over the Ginge...
-
Halfback to look at - Xavier Roe ??
I am not convinced problems are solved at 8.
Hoskins Sotutu is still unproven at test level because he hasn't been given enough minutes.
He has played solidly, but nowhere near as well as Akira did with his time.
He is more direct but not much bigger than Savea. -

@raznomore Because the AB coaches pushed for him to be played at 15. As I said, the one season he played 10 the entire time he got the Chiefs to the playoffs losing by one point away.
And the past four seasons RM got the Crusaders the title.

My thoughts too. It's like we have Mannix Mk 2 out there if you go by some of the comments.
RM is no Carter, but him and Barrett are the best we have and there is nobody else knocking on the door.

@Frank There are two clear candidates to keep an eye on, for the no. 8 jersey in the first place, but also for the 6 jersey:
Marino Mikaele-Tu'u (same height as Sotutu, but about 10kgs heavier) and Devan Flanders (about the same height/weight).
And, of course, Cullen Grace is already in the squad and needs more game time.

@Stargazer said in Argentina Two: Newcastle, 28 November:
Agreed Marino Mikaele-Tu'u should be given a go.
Though is it possible you are hoodwinking me because both of them come from the Hawkes Bay.
Know nothing about Devan Flanders. Ned's brother ? -
@Frank If you know nothing about Flanders, you haven't been paying attention the last few years!
One of only a few players standing out for NZ U20, last year. One of the group of Hastings Boys 1st XV champions (2017), just played his third season of Mitre 10 Cup at only 21; played a good first season for the Hurricanes this year.

@Stargazer you didn't mention Robinson.
You Blues and Northland fans hype up Ginga Jesus enough to leave @Stargazer to hype our Magpies boys.

we've got enormous chips on our shoulders from seeing talent like Piutau, Faumauina and Luatua heading overseas and not feeling the love. I mean, Luatua should have been setting the bar for AIoane to hit for the AB 6 position over the last few years. And you can't tell me that a quality 6 and 14 wouldn't have been useful at the last RWC.
