Everyone knows he can make great runs and links well with backs, what impressed was the defensive grunt work, literally lifting Aussies out of rucks, hitting hard on defence, and showing great desperation with one handed tackles.
He also stole a bloody lineout.
Much higher ceiling than Frizzel IMO, and it's the same as with Clark and Bridge, he just needs to move on from being convervative and reward form.
I don’t disagree with any of that. Not quite sure why you quoted my post. I wasn’t saying Akita played poorly just that the overall tactics for the team were different and were looking to possibly play to the strengths you mention.
If going back to the other setup then I can see why they might think they have the right group for it.
I would hope that Akira has been given an assurance that they will give him game time next game. -

@Winger my selection of Ioane on the wing was more hope than thinking that’s what they would do. They appear to be using this series to build Jordie’s experience out the back as they see the upside in his game but some creases to iron out.

I just wanted to highlight the defence work because that were he has received criticism in the past. He couldn’t have been better in that area.

I think I mentioned that he was playing a Ginga Jesus style of game in the match thread.
But agree with you on his defence and ruck work, he was hitting hard. The Tongan will need to show he can do the same this weekend rather than just be 'busy'.

@Nepia but as also noted in the thread, they seem to use Frizell differently, he isnt stationed wide like Akira was, so unless they decide to use him like that this week, isnt a direct comparison.

But that wasn't the stuff I was commenting that he'd need to show he'd do the same - doesn't matter where they're standing on the field they should be hitting people and rucks hard.

@Nepia I know what you are getting at, but when 2 players are used differently in different parts of the field it will make a difference in some of the stats you want to measure them by.
Number alone dont tell the story.
I'd prefer Akira to have started, so not defending Frizell I just dont think you can put the numbers along side and say he didnt do as well.
What is the Argie side gonna look like? Is it gonna be tight or a 50 pointer?
