...does that really look like an 'inexperience team"?...looks to me more like a very experience team with 1 on debut and only one other with less that 10 caps

@Kiwiwomble fair call,
it's weird, they felt inexperienced - but looking at that yuo'd expect more out of them. Would be interested to see how many regular starters there ahve been though - of those, I'd suggest Codie, Ofa (recently), Sam, Sam, Ardie, BB, RI and ALB are probably it. and that's 8/15
So, really, pretty inexcusable
-
Experience goes out the window when your halfback in his 68th test takes a quick tap from a full arm penalty 8 metres out from your own line and then kicks the ball out anyway - resulting in an opposition throw - turning over possession. He was trying to get 10 extra metres for the 'not back 10' but it's a very very risky play.
Bear mind this was when the ABs were down to 14 men but Swinton had not yet been carded - so it was 14 on 15.
-
have to say i not a fan of playing for a penalty. You see it alot, dominant scrum trying to get a scrum penalty and it gets messy and someone knocks it on or the just doesn't call it...just play the ball

I'm a fan of scrumming for a penalty if you have the dominant scrum, it means easy metres down the field or a shot for 3. What TJP did was beyond stupid though.
-
@akan004 i wont go too much into it but struggle with the idea of scrum penalties to start with, i mean they're popping/going backwards because their not as strong as the other scrum...they cant change that on the spot so your being pinged for something out of your control...and then deliberately going for one seems worse...for a different thread though im sure
-
@Kiwiwomble hate it. Almost as bad as mauls (period).
-
@Kiwiwomble yep, I particularly hate when a YC and PT come from repeated scrums too.

The team we finished the game had significantly less experience with the front row, replacement lock and Will Jordan (for a couple of minutes). A factor amongst a number of factors that played out.

@ACT-Crusader i agree and did say that, was more specifically about directly after the RC and potentially the coaching, should we maybe not have use all the subs and kept the experience, if tired, heads on the field

Apologist?!
start of thread was this:Foster is a RWC SF level coach? Sounds optimistic to me! Rennie just beat Foster's All Blacks with a team he found at Petrie Terrace!
Rennie has hardly been impressive either with a record loss just last week. I'm not a fan of Foster's but he shouldn't be totally blamed for the loss, he can't control the stupidity and ill discipline of some of his players.
I think you would find I am NOT a Foster apologist.
He has been in All Black coaching team since 2012!!
The bench selections and swaps (delayed or otherwise) are on him! -

After the card our heads exploded, and we seemed to panic.
we get told they train for being a man down, yet Perth last year and this game, would seem they dont.
This is where you have to quesiton the leadership, last year more so with Read being more experienced.
I thought that they quite obviously changed up the tactics when Ofa left. They seemed to get confused once it was 14 on 14 and especially when it was 14 on 13.

I am reserving judgement on Foster until the end of 2021, when it is absolutely his team playing his way.
Foster has been shafting the Mighty Bay of Plenty since 2003. How much longer do you need?
-
@mariner4life might need another year to judge. But the halftime update is that Foster is the same coaching passenger heβs been for years.
