@Chris Fair enough too. The shit teams (especially Canterbury) get given substandard refs
Haha seems to be the way

Are they trying to depress people?!!
At risk of looking like a @mariner4life post with this:
Most refs are downers if truth be told, but a necessary evil.
Doleman is a bit unfortunate too - how long out of work?

Comments from Boshier.
“I tell you what, it’s been a long year, stringing 80s [minutes] every week is definitely taking its toll,” he said. “Working on putting a bit of size on isn’t really a focus at the moment, it’s just trying to get through. “It sort of takes me three or four days to recover after every game now. And even though we had that break off over Covid, we’re still training hard and it felt like a second pre-season. So it’s actually been a bloody long year physically and mentally."

@akan004 Players know the weight their body best operates at and Boshier may be quite happy playing the way he does now . To put on more weight to meet the selectors desires could turn him into another plodder and change his current effectiveness . Witness Vaea Fifita who they managed to turn into a plodder, far removed from the wide ranging free running guy we saw when he first bust onto the scene six or seven years back..
-
@Higgins I agree although I do also see where the selectors are coming from, he needs to be more physical imo. What I am saying is whatever he thinks of his ideal playing weight it's best to keep it to himself. It's never a good idea to disagree with your employers publicly.
-
@Machpants I expect they (the selectors) have access to all the data about players, or can get certain players tracked in M10 to see how they are tracking post Super?
So maybe they had seen a drop off or that his body was struggling to keep up (working harder each week)
Tom Robinson is another who many thought the selectors had a close eye on, and maybe they are just wanting him to get through a full season without injury, before introducing him to the highest level?
Or are we giving the coaches too much credit
-
@Higgins same goes with Asafo Aumua. I feel they added too much size to him too early and he lost that pure power and speed he had when he first burst onto the scene.
I feel like he's only just getting some of that back as he naturally matures.

'being physically and mentally spent' from the season is also a reason not to pick him for 4 tests in 5 weeks!
Ummm...has Kirifi been taking it easy then? No wonder they picked him if that's him just lounging about!
-
@Bones Nah he’s just not spent
