96 Boks tour one that is burned in the old memory is from the first test - Wilsonβs chip and chase down the right side off a scrum from our own half.
It was the second Test in Pretoria.
Cheers.
Very fond memories watching that series with my extended family.

Many who were around at this time will have suppressed the memory of these, so drag them up from the depths at your peril. But, they'll be burned in there somewhere....
Gerrie Germishuys - too fast for Bee Gee and Kit Fawcett losing the pass over his shoulder.

The immediate vision that popped into my head upon reading the thread title was Stu Wilson vs France in thright hand corner where he seemingly (to a child's eye) flew to the tryline. Stuck with me vividly always.
It's 56 seconds into this. I bet it never gets done again π
By the way that baa baas try, the Edwards one from yonks ago, is like lying about an airswing in golf

Bore da from Wales
Best try, best commentary

Cliff MorganSome good tries in that game, not just the famous one. No wonder that match is so famous.
David Duckham dummy then gas for the Dawes no try, beautiful.

The try in the flour bomb test was great. 2:50 in that video. Good optics of the stationary passer getting absolutely clattered but just in time to put Hewson through.

Wow. Tony Johnson commentating way back in 96? I'd never heard of him until I returned from OE in early 2000s.
He started off in radio commentary as I remember his famous words at the end of Waikato's Ranfurly Shield win over Auckland in 1993.

That try against France is classic. Wilson ran brilliant lines for a winger and the soft hands of Bruce Robertson setting up most of those attacks.

Earliest memory: BeeGee Williams going over by the touchline and then sidestepping 3 or 4 Boks to score under the posts in '70
Nonu putting BB in the corner RWC Semi against the Boks. One of the best try setups you'll see.
Cullen's tries against Scotland in '96
Gregor Townsend's try in the same game. Looked so simple but as Mains (who was doing TV comments) said "Just class, just pure class"
Lomu's 1st try against the Poms in '95.

This. This every time. And all the stories that go with it. I'm not even welsh and I remember this try
-
karne hesketh try.
This video doesnt do it justice. It was the gradually increasing crowd crescendo in the phases leading up that set this try apart. The unmistakable sound of neutrals, there for a jolly, realizing they're in with a chance if witnessing history.

I like the Welsh try, with centering kick, that knocked England out of 2015

Weirdly. While Horan, Campese and Mortlock tries are burned in my memory. I have no vision at all of tries that knocked us out in 99 & 07 by France or even 2019 by England. I vaguely remember a kick and chase in 99.
There were no World Cups those years...

Remember that one well. The Aus press called Davies that "geriatric dwarf". One quote that still has me in stitches was: "He's as old as Mal (Meninga) and weighs about as much as Mal's prick, and the bastard has beaten us."
