Oh and another one I just remembered.

Daugunu scares the fuck out of me. He's a gun and looks like one of those players that goes up a level at test rugby.

    Just back from the game.

    Ok, thats bullshit.

Just back from watching the game on sky.

    Ok, still bullshit.

Just back from watching the highlights on youtube. Clarke seems worth the hype, although it must be worth remembering that is the first time any of the Aussies have played him - they'll not make the same mistakes again. Haven't read off the thread, but was much said about the Aaron Smith try? He deserves so much credit for it, in my view, not just the try, but the lead-in. The pass from the base to Goodhue was an absolute peach. Perfect distance in front him so that Goodhue had to fully accelerate to get it. How many times over the years do you see those passes to the static man, or just in front so the guy has to slow to get it. If you watch it again, it looks like it's too far in front of Goodhue, but its not. It's absolutely perfect.

That was my highlight of the day. I mean match. I mean highlights.

@MajorRage that's not quite true. Clarke has played Tahs twice and Brumbies and Reds once each

@Bones comparing a side who ordinarily expect to be the best in the world with last years RWC finalists seems pretty rational to me.

It's an excellent point. I'm sure we'd be time travelling back to last year to play them, don't know why I thought otherwise. I'm very irrational I guess.

Oh shit, you are correct. I keep forgetting there was super rugby this year before the Aotearoa version!

Was he potential superstar back then as well?

Nah go on then, you be rational and show me all this amazing rugby SA and England are playing. I'm sure Clarke will struggle to do any damage against such fantastic teams, especially if we time travel. He hasn't done as much international travel as the seasoned vets so the jet lag will really hit him.

His games against Aussie teams were actually in 2018 and 2019 and whilst he was good he has gone to a whole other level this year - so I think your point is a good one and i'm just being pedantic.

While we're on the topic of ludicrous....can we stop appointing Clarke as the next superstar midfielder? He's had one and a bit tests on the wing.

You can't blame the fans. They're just getting on the Reiko ( did I spell that right ? ) bandwagon nice and early.

What annoyed me in the ABs performance is the easiness with which the Aussies punched holes through their defence. And this despite the tackles being made. It's a problem of general organization and tactic, so it is of McLeod's domain. Any thoughts ?

An Ardie-Clarke midfield would be barnstorming.

You can only imagine the damage they'd do outside a returning Dagg.

I agree, I also wonder how much misreading decoy runners comes into play too.

@Bones he’s a rock, literally. About 5’8-5’9 and quick feet.

A genuine poach from the Aussies too πŸ˜‰

And Messam on the bench covering them.
