Some good individual performances but we look out of control, oz look to have a far better pattern

    Agreed.

Wallabies attacking structure is far superior.

But slow. ABs seem so much faster. Mind you that led to some overekaboration and fuck ups.

@broughie this team has benefited from ball runners BB, son of Eroni, Sotutu. Laumape deserves a chance

I like Sotutu’s game, but he didn’t exactly carry much ball today so I’m not sure you can say we benefited from that.

I think we need to be a little more patient with some of these players. That’s not conservative, it’s reality. Not long ago Naholo started out his AB career and he was dynamite from the outset and then things just didn’t happen for him.

More talented team vs a superiorly coached team

See comment about speed above. Win a effective on attack but don't look as dangerous.

Agreed with the commentary of the panel on BB and RM.

BB played more as a fullback today than as a second playmaker. Wasn't first receiver often and didn't try to distribute like a first five, but went himself when he saw an opportunity. Being the communicator at the back, keeping a good view of what was happening in front of him is way more helpful for RM's role than what he did previously. Using his fast running more was great to see. RM had a great game, running left and right, he was everywhere, and looked more confident. If the two working together evolves this way, it's very promising, esp because there's still room for improvement.

I'm pretty much on the half way line. Oz backline is offside pretty much every time, pushing in in the Miguel's and just not picked up. Makes their rush look better than it is

    Que?

Foster out! I haven’t seen the match but I’m assuming Rennie, the brilliant Chiefs coach, outfoxed Foster the Chiefs dud. Been ages since NZ lost at Eden Park but I suppose it had to happen eventually.

I refer to my statements pre-game that it is always funny to see Kiwis pull the sky down onto their own heads despite every single piece of history pointing in the other direction 😉

It's our national psyche. We love introverted self effacing overachievers. it motivates us.

It appears there’s a great love for the, let’s pile on player X until the cows come home all because we like player Y or Z better...

That's a Fern trait. Exacerbated by Foster apparently being a terrible selector

Still doesn't feel like a 20 point margin currently, feels a lot closer

It was a funny sort of match because going into half time I thought, if we can score first then I think we could see things open up a bit.

It had a similar feel to the 2011 RWC semi

Why don’t clock. We need a specialist. That’s a the advantage of having a specialist. It was great. BB stepped up to the plate. If you have that much talent you’ve got to be involved. WTF. Now we have to go to Oz. Hey the Ozzie are are still a work in progress. I’m still more concerned about the boM and their forward pack and England and their forward pack. That will be the measure of us.

    Enjoy the whisky @broughie :).

(Not casting aspersions ... been known to PUI myself.)

Unfortunately for the Wallabies they fell apart in the second, their first 40 was very similar to Wellington with some great forward interplay, players in motion and structure. They reverted to old with some fucken stupid passes, aimless kicking and woeful handling. They just needed some patience and to calm down which will likely come with time.

Had a few of those key moments gone their way it may have been a much tighter game. The AB's on the back of Clarke really pounced on the Wallabies mistakes and they couldn't recover after those back to back to back tries.

If the Wallabies can reduce the error rate and play like the first 120 minutes we should be in for a good game in OZ.

Incredible from Caleb Clarke. So good. No one ever owns the All Blacks 11 jersey. Not even Jonah. But if he keeps this up, Caleb's going to develop into one of the best Left Wings we've seen.

Sam Cane, superb again. Best decision Foster has made was to appoint him captain. Nugget very good again.

So much better from Ardie Savea and Richie Mo'unga

It's a shame Bridge had to take matters into his own hands and injure himself to get Clarke into his rightful starting spot.
