@Rapido in real time the ball bounces up so that raises doubt about the grounding. This one was less of any issue because he’s holding the ball and touching it on the ground. The problem with the one on Sunday is he’s clearly not holding the ball whilst grounding it.

His first try in that Argies test was perfect. Keep doing it like that young fella.

got curious and looked up his tries....he does this stupid touchdown every other time, this one annoyed me, ive never played in the backs but even i know you carry on the opposite side to the defence let alone the one handed...no reason for itd14bf295-9c37-48d8-83e4-bbc68045096b-image.png

Gif of the one on the weekend:

    gifs.com/gif/riekogif2-jZlQlz

and gif of the slo-mo they used for decision:
    gifs.com/gif/rieko3-zvGPZ7

Weirdly, real time looked worse than super slo-mo actually, IMO, despite saying earlier they shouldn't use super slo-mo for these sorts of decisions ...

@Kiwiwomble its not a defence, but those one handed around the post tries are very common now. If you don't need to do it force it safely

If he wants to pull out his fortnite inspired try scoring dance then fine if you must. But make sure of the score first

Blues fans know he very often dives like that.

It almost cost him in Blues-Crusaders in 2019 in Christchurch in the wet/dew.

They went to the TMO and it was very close but they gave it.

We've been spoiled rotten since 2011. Those famous wins might need to sustain us over the nuclear winter that might be the next 2 years...

    Yes it's always annoyed me.

I've been surprised that Blues/AB coaches haven't corrected it. He should've been criticised by his coaches everytime regardless of if the grounding was legal. This habit goes back through his entire career, so I wonder if that was happening

Might be a classic case of him being so good at lower levels that his coaches ignored it

Would be interesting to know. But sometimes it takes a massive stuff up that has more consequence to get change.

I'd like to think the AB's would:

    1. notice something that obvious
    2. make an effort to eradicate it before it has a big consequence

It might explain Foster's muted reaction

I’d hope so to, but I guess we don’t know.

Silence could mean that they have worked on it and he reverted to type and this still happened and not productive to call it out. Or they haven’t and he’s being sheepish.

Hopefully this is the wake-up call Rieko needs to change the way he scores tries.

A demonstration of his rehabilitation on Sunday would be greatly appreciated. 😉

For punishment how about they make him pass to his unmarked winger, and remain in position defensively. I think he has other work-ons to concentrate on.
