I thinks the young lock played well in the time he spent on the park. Trying to think of positives.

He was ok but very lucky not to give away a penalty when oz were close to our line at the end.

Traditionally we have been shit first test , but it’s quite often against a lesser opponent, ( even lesser Than aus )

So hopefully we get better ,

I’m desperate, looking for positives 🤔

The positives are there are some players we can bring in to the starting XV to make this team improve.

For all those begging for the drop goal near the end... sitting in the stadium, I'd have to say I can understand nobody going for a droppie. You'd need the advantage guarantee to have gone for anything other than safely-safely in that weather.
Just read back through the thread, even in the first half, nobody seemed to know who had the wind at their back.
It was stereotypical CakeTin, on the higher end of the Beaufort scale.

We get this even when the refs favour the wobs from their whinging fans so we aren't going to hear the end of it after today. The whinging on twitter has been non stop.

Congratulations Fozzie. You did something Henry or Hansen didn’t achieve and that is lose the first Bledisloe match against a new Wallabies coach.

Slow starters, new combos, inexperienced backline, silver linings, hope, the draw we needed to have

No - Robbie Deans won his first Bledisloe Cup match in 2008: 34-19 in Sydney.

Wasn’t that Deans first test against the ABs, and OZ won?

@akan004 ref was predictably horrible. nearly let through two no-tries if not for Gardner (who wasnt much better).

Gardner will probably be as bad next week in favouring Aus .

@akan004 The whining from some of the Wallaby fans that a NZ ref cost them a win is hilarious and sadly predictable.

I did worry about that before the game, made sure I left the Japanese “sports charm” I got at one of the Kumano temples, and took to Yokohama... at home.

@antipodean doesnt really matter - in the context of the series a draw is as good as a win for us.

They have a point. Williams was bad.

But he didn't favour the home team. Anyone thinking Gardner's going to be any better has rocks in their head.

I thought the big work on after the semi was to improve our physicality. We looked even less physical than last year.

I long for the days when our team was stuffed full of GOATs in their positions and we could play like shit and still snaffle a win at the death

Our set piece saved us in that game, we stole plenty of lineout ball and got a number of scrum penalties. We also got a number of crucial penalties with Oz on our line. If Oz can fix their lineout and cleanout better we could be in a lot of trouble. I thought White was excellent with his sniping runs. Their wingers ran hard and fast, kind of like if we had Clarke and Reece/Ioane.

I didn't think the problem was our forwards, we gave away a lot of possession and some errors on D.

I do wonder if Fozzie knows any other way apart from the Hansen way considering that is the only environment he has been in for ages. I would have loved to have seen how the AB's would have played under Rennie.

Yeah it will be interesting what changes come. Two forced changes pre-game.

Clarke was great off the bench and I think most of us predicted he (and Sotutu) would provide impact late in the game against tired defenders. Do they start?

Might seem like an easy decision but as we know many a player has looked good coming on in these situations and it is stark given the way the test has played out.

Ideally at this stage I would still have Mo’unga coming off the bench behind B. Barrett. And my “informed” team selections 😎 I had Barrett at 10 with Jordie at 15. To me Reece and Ioane are our two best wingers and Goodhue and ALB our best midfield.

I don’t have stats or analysis other than from the armchair but it covers several bases.
