In UK the Scots brave, Irish plucky. You don't know which French team are going to turn up (erm yes you do they've been boring as batshit for the last 5 years) Wales play with passion, and there an underlying inference that England should of course be the best, even when they're far from it.

The PIs are happy folk who play with a smile on their face while consistently high tackling. The Boks are brutal, about to descend into savagery at the drop of a hat. The Aussies never give up and never know when they are beaten.

The ABs are just too bloody good so they always have a "weakness" - this changes every few years but usually scrum, loss of aura, tight games, drop goals or some other bs.

My pet hat word at the moment is "physicality" -

FML? What does it mean? I'm seeing regularly

I first heard this about 6 or 7 years ago, when a girl I was seeing at the time used it in a text. That's the beauty of texting, you can easily hide your 'what the fuck does that mean' face and pretend you know exactly what it is they're on about.

I've since found out that it means fuck my life. At least that's what I think it means. LOL.

WTF am I doing uzing LOL, I fucking h8 LOL. OMG FML, I just uzed it again. What the hell, YOLO. -

Ulster being the only professional rugby team in NI, we basically have dedicated TV coverage of (almost) all their matches on BBC2NI, with the most "homer" commentator ever - Jim Neilly. He is utterly useless from any objective viewpoint, but is normally good for 1 or 2 unintentional gems per game. Examples include:

"Nick Williams - he's like a sledgehammer hitting a meringue!"

Ulster, having reclaimed the ball from kick-off, lose a turnover with 3:22 on the clock - "And Ulster lose the ball after holding possession for 5 minutes solid."

Stephen Ferris on the charge - "He's turned into a train with no station, absolutely unstoppable."

After redhead Paddy Jackson took a heavy tackle - "He's looking a bit ginger on it." (Pun not intended, I guarantee you.)

After Paul O'Connell knocked on near the tryline - "He's got white-line fever . . . mind you the only time I get white line fever nowadays is when I'm parking the car."
