EPL 19/20

Let's not pretend that Bayern Munich are paupers. They have the 6th highest average annual player salary, just behind PSG.
No one said they were paupers or morally pure.
But I prefer their model of finance to clubs with obvious links to authoritarian governments and kleptocracy.
Lots of dirty money gets laundered through football clubs.

Not a bad final this morning (although I had to stop watching just after the goal) - not quite the rollicking game we hoped for as both sides were fairly cautious in their approach. Bayern deserved winners as the best team through the season.
First team to win every game of the CL, they said at the end. That is remarkable.
That's the kind of stat that needs an asterisk though. Not having second legs makes a huge difference. I wonder how many teams were perfect but for a second leg that they 'lost' 1-nil with a three goal buffer from the first leg?

That’s a fair point. I forgot about that

The one stat that is impressive from Bayern Munich is the number of goals in a single season, when you consider the number of games they played.
45 Barcelona, 1999/2000 (16 matches)
43 Bayern, 2019/20 (11)
41 Real Madrid, 2013/14 (13)
41 Liverpool, 2017/18 (13)
36 Real Madrid, 2016/17 (13) -
