Lyon the giant-killers. But what a miss from Sterling. If Man City defended like that against Bayern Munich they would have been torn apart.
So no Spanish and English clubs in the last 4. France vs Germany.
Seems like every season huge conclusions are drawn of one country's dominance but the shocks keep coming. Last season it was all English clubs .....
Lyon had pretty much the perfect game plan - sat deep but never let City settle into their passing, harassed them all over the pitch. 2nd goal should have been given as a foul but the Euro VAR never wants to over turn a ref's decision - that looked like one he should have been sent to the monitor for.
Then Sterling's near legendary miss followed almost immediately by giving it away again for a calamitous 3rd. City could have been humped by Bayern and Lyon will struggle.
Not sure why Pep played such a defensive structure. It made them no more solid at the back but just meant they never had enough players in attack. How you can leave all of 2 Silvas, Foden & Mahrez on the bench still amazes me.
Bayern are vulnerable as they pour so many forward and hold a really high line so there is hope for Lyon but Bayern are also so ruthless and you can never accuse City of that.

PSG vs Bayern Munich in the CL final.
BM will be favourites but I give PSG a good chance. BM play a high defensive line which can be exploited with pace, and Mbappe and Neymar have that. If Lyon had taken their 2 early chances today's game could have been very different.

This has all the hallmarks of being a fantastic final which probably means it will be really dull. PSG certainly have the weapons to expose that dodgy BM defence (not dodgy defenders, but they get no protection) but BM have shown how ruthless they can be. PSG are not the flaky team of the last few years, they are much more solid and if they can grab an early goal, may be able to frustrate Bayern and then hit them on the break.
A footrace of Mbappe v Davies could be quite a sight ....

Manchester United's £85 million captain has been arrested for fighting police on the Greek island, Mykonos.
Local sources say there is a massive problem in his defence.

my main takeaway is that the fucking Europeans are on holidays!!!
He can go to Greece and I can't even go to fucking Sydney!!

Will anyone be organising a Fantasy Premier League competition this year? Haven't had one for a few years after Hurrycanes stifled all interest thanks to winning three or four years in a row.
Not me, not enough hours in the day already. For over 25 years I've been running the TSL (Top Scorer's League) where you pick a team and get a point for every goal your players score. @Hurrycanes has been in it for years and others such as @dogmeat @Hooroo @Virgil have dabbled in it. New players always welcome from any of this thread - you pick a team with a budget and you can make transfers monthly - it's fairly simple and doesn't require constant attention.

Not a bad final this morning (although I had to stop watching just after the goal) - not quite the rollicking game we hoped for as both sides were fairly cautious in their approach. Bayern deserved winners as the best team through the season.
First team to win every game of the CL, they said at the end. That is remarkable.

Played 11, Won 11, Goals for 43, Goals against 8.
Goals against teams from London: 17 in 4 games.

Bayern Munich were deserved winners. Not as spectacular as their humiliation of Barcelona but still effective.
75% of the club is owned by the fans. Most of the rest by Adidas, Audi and Allianz.
They are certainly no rich man's plaything
come on. They are the 4th highest club in Europe in terms of Revenue. Lets not get all "one for the little guys" here.
Most importantly, their revenue is twice that of the next highest Club in Germany, hence their ability to hoover talent.

Do they have a rich Arab or Russian pouring money into the club in the form of suspicious personal loans or outlandish income derived from state owned airlines linked to the club's owners?

Do Real? Or Barca? Or even Juve?

Real is Franco's club. Can't answer for the other two
