Two teams desperate for a win next week when the Highlanders host the Canes.</p></blockquote>

I'm sure it will be a game of two halves as well <br><br>

<p>Had high hopes the 'Canes would play well given their performance against the Crusaders and the AB's in the team so was mighty disappointed last night. If we are going to play like shit and cop a thrashing better to be at this end of the comp. Hope this ignites a better effort going forward or it will be a long, sad season for their fans :o(</p>

What happened to the scrums after the first 10 mins?<br><br><blockquote class="ipsBlockquote" data-author="Winger" data-cid="561218" data-time="1456518730"><p>Savea has bulked up</p></blockquote><br>He looked like he'd spent pre-season at the bakery.

Just came back from the game. If this outfit put 70 odd past the Crusaders, how bad are they?<br><br>
The Canes looked hopelessly outclassed in the forwards. Shit passing and execution from the backs. Just terrible to watch.<br><br>
Even worse they've ensured that fuckloads of these filthy public servants will attend next week's game. piston wristed gibbons.<br><br>
At least that will make it better when the Tahs destroy them.</p></blockquote>

I hope you're paid plenty of money. I could see no other reason to live in that freezing, barren, pointless shithole.<br><br>
This is going to be a looong season. -

Yeah Lealiifano is a legendary 10 huh....completely outshone Barrett..or not.<br><br>
I'd say the bigger difference was one position in.</p></blockquote>

Exactly, how can anyone evaluate Barrett's ab prospects based on the first game of the Super season. If we did that, most abs (especially GOAT) would have been written off. -

<p>Barrett isn't a proven performer at AB level though. Right now I would put Cruden and Sopoaga ahead of him. Not writing Barrett off though.</p> -

<p>most ABs DO get written off based on S15+ form! </p> -

<p>No one is writing Barret off in his bench impact role but he has constantly shown little direction or authority in the starting 10 jersey and setting the tone for the game. The Canes had the majority of possession and opportunities int he first 20 and took none. This isn't one game either he has struggled with it all his Super and AB career hence his AB appearances being mainly at fullback.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>He will definitely be back for the All Blacks but in the same impact role behind Cruden or Sopoanga starting.</p> -

Never thought I'd share parts of a training regime with an All Black, but it's good to see he's also highly dedicated to ensuring his local bakeries survive. -

Julian Savea has acquired Matt Dunning's backside.<br><br>
Looks like he has discovered that pie shop that Andrew Mehrtens used to frequent. -

<p>I had a good time there. It isn't half as bad as the press it gets. Preferable to living somewhere like the suburbs in Sydney or Melbourne. Easy to get around and top facilities. Just a little soul-less.</p>

<p>Would I go back for another stint? No.</p> -

Actually I believe in Barrett's case it is different. He is a proven All Black as a bench impact player - he isn't proven as a starting 10 for the ABs.<br><br>
The issue is his ability to play 10 at a world class level - this is different from talking about a proven performer in a certain position who is working into his season or going through the motions or perhaps an older body more suited to test rugby than Super Rugby (e.g. in previous years examples have been Nonu, Woodcock, McCaw etc etc). -
<p>Perenara pisses me off. How can he be vice captain when he can't even clear the ball. Give Te Toiroa Tahuriorangi a chance. Perenara is too erratic and I can't really see him in the All Black frame if he carries on with that rubbish display of clearing the ball. </p>

Nah he's been great as the Canes no. 10. He has his ups and downs, but so do most players. It would be logical to wait until at least mid season to evaluate his ab chances. One game is ridiculous. -

Agree with this. He has a real weakness with messy ball around the breakdown and his general passing isnt very good. He reminds me a bit of Brendon Leonard, who flashed on to the scene but then seemed to stall (Leonard also had a real weakness with managing/clearing messy rucks/breakdowns).
