Fast bowlers have had good results recently
Must be cos NZ have had not one, not two but THREE class pace bowlers all playing at once instead of Hadlee at one end and some shitty medium pacers at the other.
But seriously, interesting stats, never thought the period of the late 70s, 80s and early 90s would be bettered.

I raised this earlier, there are some cracking attacks around at the moment. And we tend to lump players from the past together even if they weren't actually around at the same time.

Lack of sport on TV (clearly) so been watching some ODI retrospective. Now, I know this won’t be popular with all but they was a section on the recent CWC. For a British audience so very much England centric. It was a bit more than just the game itself, it went into the emotions and confusion surrounding the Super Over and the aftermath. Really interesting and showed the guys in a very human way. Several of them were very regretful of how NZ lost.

I think despite the advances in batting technology the ebb and flow is favouring bowlers again. Pleasing that our three main pacemen ( yes including the much maligned Southee ) are playing their part in this.

Some early COVID musings for club cricket in oz. Released in an email to clubs in SA. Can t speak for the others.
No sweat or spitting on the ball to shine.
Slips 1.5 metres apart.
Only wicketkeeper near the batsman when standing up.
No hugging or celebrating closely.
Fist bumps only
Possibility of reducing teams to 10 aside ( I shit you not)
Each club must appoint a COVID safety officer and produce plans.Early days and time for reason to emerge but aren't fish heads and safety committees great?
Personally I think we'll play exactly the same way as we did last season.

Good grief Indians write some utter bullshit about cricket so I’m in two minds on this one.....
Big fan of Ryder in the day but I’ve grown to enjoy the fact Henry Nicholls keeps his drinking under control.
I think at test level he was missed more and a 3/4/5 of KW, Rossco and him could have competed with anyone.
I miss Bondy though and despite the stop starts still rate him our second best ever.

So the West Indies get up over the English at the Rose Bowl. First test match post-Covid, no crowds, but a cracking game.
Windies were effectively 27-4 chasing 200, but got there pretty comfortably thanks to a big 95 from one of the middle order. Followed this on and off through the daily updates given time zones, and seemed a damn good test match. Must be weird playing inside empty stadia - maybe the new normal?
I do wonder, though, if there are no crowds why not go to genuinely small grounds with good pitches, put up temp camera positions, and have at it? How nice would it be at a 'garden' type ground rather than an amphitheatre?

I’m glad test cricket has been unaffected by Covid

Except for no saliva on the ball. Decreases the opportunity for sandpaper use.

Cool game. I left the Windies at effectively 4 down for 30 something, with some admiration that they'd pushed the poms valiantly. The new dukes was going all over and the poms were bowling disciplined.
A fine win for the caribbeans. That Blackwood 95 must have been class on a 5th day wicket with uneven bounce.
Crazy toss decision by Stokes in that weather. Anderson bowling like he's 10 years younger. Poms still picking journeymen batters who average under 40 in 1st class, and come to test cricket with glaring technical flaws - play 10 games, get a ton and only ever get mentioned with the suffix " oh yeah, I think I remember him" Vince, Malan, Stoneham, Keaton someone, Carbery, etc. Now add Denly and soon crawley.
Not that I can offer better but they're taking our "chuck em in and see" approach to batsmen selections to new heights.Jason Holder is a marvel.
Please let there be a turning wicket so we can see big Rahkeem in action. He's got biggerGreat to have test cricket to watch in an evening instead of that incessant Netflix browsing we've been doing for months!
Root obviously got one 9 months ago, so he's back for the next one at old Trafford on Thursday.
Oh, and if there's one professional sport where the players are used to no crowds, it's red ball cricket!

Had a look at the scoreboard, how does the opener get 8 not out? Retired hurt ?
I think Holder is a brilliant captain as well as best all rounder in the world. What a player
