@booboo no doubt, the Warriors were horrible last night.
The players that win us games are the same players that lose them the following week.
Green and Nokorima were very poor. The kicking game was piss weak. I know he scored 3 tries last week but Hiku has reached that period of his career where he's probably going to have to look at either losing some weight and really concentrating on being and 80min player or he can fuck off. There's no x-factor with him anymore. Beale, a hard as he tries offers nothing in offense and is starting to shake his "solid on defense" tag. Herbert doesn't seem to offer anything from the wing. The forward pack hasn't been that bad. Harris and surprisingly Blair have been good since the comp restarted. Katoa has the makings of a very, very good player and was outstanding in the two wins.
We're missing Ah Mau, Afoa, Papali'i, and Tevaga so we do have that to look forward to. We really need big Ken and a fit Fusitua back carting the ball up.

If papali'i and tevaga are the answer things are worse than I thought

and a 14 days quarantine to mull it over if he heads back to NZ anytime soon!
Had to go. Years too late imo.

The logical thing to do would have been to cut him instead of renewing his contract. Silly business decision

Ding dong etc
Got a big win on a race in Brisbane, and Kearney sacked in about 2 minutes. Good times

@Nepia there are some things that have always bothered me about the Warriors.
- they have always played behind the advantage line. Particularly bad with Johnson. This year they look so much better and in the last two games have created so many opportunities.
- player development. Seems poor. They end pickIng up players no one else wants. This years roster looking like a really mixed bag. Green is average - is kicking lacks length and he doesn’t take it to the line. Kodi is starting to look better though. Beale offers nothing. Hiku is such a mixed bag.
- letting Cleary go as Coach. Hope they haven’t just repeated the dose. Sometimes playing the long game is worth it.
-
If Graeme Lowe gets the job, I'm off the Warriors forever - somehow I think hes angling for it, and can't help but wonder if he's been up to some shit behind the scenes.
Graeme Lowe defends Warriors change
He was on one of the news shows a month or so saying he was ready to coach again *"not necessarily the Warriors though" - I'm very suspect and lets face it last time he was involved was probably when the Warriors started going really pear-shaped.
-
The right decision but poor timing. Should have been done six months ago, or otherwise at the end of this season given they backed away in 2019.
Kearney wasn't going to turn anything around given his coaching record, but he's always appeared to be a good bloke - the sense of a good man being thrown under the bus mid-pandemic won't do the Warriors many favours either.
-
Don't know what people expect with the roster the Warriors have. They're a side packed with journeymen and a world class back 3. Unfortunately world class outside backs and nothing else anywhere in the squad aren't going to get you very far. The halves are journeymen, they have nothing coming out of dummy half (no disrespect to Wade Egan but he'd be probably the 16th best rake in the comp) and the pack are full of toilers with a lack of creativity coming out of them. They're just severly lacking in too many areas to be a top 8 side let alone anything higher than that.
-
It must be hard for a loyal coach who's been dumped to take shots at the roster. But that is the ongoing issue with the Warriors, we just can't snag enough quality talent to seriously threaten 6-8, let alone the top 4. We've had (and have) some serious talent over the years, and for the odd period we've had a squad that could legitimately go deep in the comp. But overlay those times with our variable coaching quality and it's more rocks than diamonds.

@African-Monkey snap!
-
@Paekakboyz apparently they are focusing on youth development again after letting it slide for a while. This is the most sustainable way for the club
-
@canefan hmm wonder if Auckland League stepping away from the Warriors will see an improvement in grassroots and the feeder system. I know there are scouts from most teams checking out NZ talent but getting more of our homegrown guys in the mix will hopefully let us save $$ to really target aussie talent, whether that's experienced guys or up and comers.
