This has been an amusing thread; "No, this guy is less shit that this guy".

Evans was poor last week, he was utterly dominated. You can't reward that sort of form, you have to pick the guy who contributed more.

The Canes coaches obviously do, Prinsep has been average his whole career, yet still gets selected.

Doesn't really matter anyway, the Crusaders are going to butcher us due to bad coaching and selections and the fact their team is stacked even without S Barrett.

    @Stargazer

So the three young LH options are all ignored and May is brought back as the replacement LH. And so it goes on. Rubbish players are kept, a good lock replacement is dropped and young promising players are ignored

Whats going on in Wellington? Is there another virus doing the rounds that make people irrational. Where economies are ruined for a yearly flu and team selections make nil sense.

The one good thing is they now have another good line-out option. Shame is this is the only one in the starting team. And likely these clown coaches will keep Blackwell on and replace Fifita with Scrafton to keep it this way.

@Winger there seems to be no media scrutiny on the Canes in Wellington atm, infact I'd be surprised if a crowd turned up at all considering there has been next to no hype or talk about the game on Sunday. Maybe it's just because deep down everyone knows the no-name coach is clueless and we just don't have the calibre of players to get the job done this year.

Its a bit depressing really. How does such a poor coaching group get to take over what was a top team just a few years back. I guess it rests with an incompetent board and staff.

And what must the players think? BB will be feeling great that he left this mess.

I'm no longer in Wellington but if I was I certainly wouldn't bother spending money to see the game.

Crusaders would rather play with one first-five than have Cameron on the bench. It says a lot.

Plumtree leaving at short notice was always going to be tough. A few questionable selections and here we are

Some Blues fans still have sour grapes about Evans being picked over Akira for that All Blacks game v Japan in November 2018. They take every opportunity to criticise Evans, whether justified or not.

Agree 100%. But a coaching change is an unwanted unprecedented disruption

Yup, Cameron isn't SR level and Burke is too green. To be fair, Havili is a very good back-up in that role. Good way to bring him back after his surgery without sacrificing another outside back.

He had one half of good rugby at 10. The second half he played like he had something shoved up his arse

Crusaders' chances of winning this competition rest on Mo'unga staying fit.

Havili might be OK as a stop-gap, but the game we lost to the Chiefs pre-lock down was when he was playing 10.

Last year I'm pretty sure we lost to the tahs with Cameron at 10.

Stats don't tell the full story, but Evans made six tackles (same as Gibson who was injured early after 30mins), and he missed one of those and conceded a turnover. Also conceded two penalties.

But his attack stats were even worse, six runs for three metres made. No passes. No lineout takes.

Was he taking a nap out there? Fuck all effect for 72 minutes.

@Duluth No doubt, fullback is David Havili's best position - he's one of the best in the country - and he's quite a decent second-five as well, but he was excellent at 10 in the first half (creating several try-scoring opportunities, two resulting in tries) and steering the ship well. They didn't lose the game in the second half because he was playing at 10, although his level indeed dropped in the 2nd half. To quote Ian Foster about that 2nd half: "Havili's biggest problem was not having Havili at fullback."

I think they'd be worried about removing all the senior players at once. When Coles was asked about who the leaders were last week he said himself, Evans and Prinsep. Maybe if/when the season is dead they'll take that risk.
This week I thought it'd be a selection shoot out between Evans and Prinsep. Evans losses that on form

Hes likely mentioned the appointed forward leaders.

And Ardie is back this week. Kirifi is the Wellington captain too.
And are you basing Prinsep is better than Evans on just one game. Where neither were great. The diff is this is the usual std for Prinsep.
