For locks instead of being in the official squad they may bring new contenders in as wider-squad members to learn without them being in the official squad (to bring them into the environment).

Think Moody and Coltman have been done a disservice here ball in hand and to a lesser degree in defence.

Locks, yeah looks light this year but there were about half a dozen excellent performances in the weekend from a bunch of inexperienced fellas. Parkinson needs to bulk up, Dickson is definitely a contender if he carries on like that, those two young chiefs locks could be perfectly ripe in 3 years time.

    The Hodgman myth continues...

@Stargazer Tom Robinson another possibility in that role.

@Bones In several positions there are more contenders for the years leading up to the 2023RWC. Cullen Grace, Devan Flanders to name just two.

@mariner4life If Luke Jacobson stays in one piece, I think he'll wear the 6 jersey.

He'd want to play a damn site better than he did on the weekend. The big ginger from Northland looked just like what we've been looking for since Kaino left. Real lineout option, punishing in defence, big engine.

Yep would agree Jacobsen wasn't that impressive for a first hit out.Robinson had a big game on Sunday.

Performance in the first game after months without playing doesn't say anything.
This whole thread has a silly timing. Let's see how things are going at the end of this competition.

@antipodean I am bias as hell, but I love watching him play, has some of that old school abrasiveness to his game, coupled with a huge motor, he would certainly not look out of place at the next level up!

Agreed. Hard for Luke to impress watching the Blues play in the final. 😉

Patty T is my big hope, he's the kind of guy that can just bash opposition packs in to surrender. I really hope this year it finally clicks, because it hasn't yet. But he's going to need a Whitelock-type next to him.

Been really impressed with Pat T's improvement over the last 2 seasons and his attitude. He's worked hard and captaincy seems to have given him a lot of maturity.

Some of his more recent games in Black have been excellent.

What i liked best about the Ginge was he has built off last year.

2019 was breakout year, but we all knew he was too raw. This year he hasn't succumbed to the dreaded 2nd year syndrome, and in fact has got better. Less penalties for a start. Still way busy and loves to hurt people.

Raped and pillaged the canes lineout too.

Ginge Cane and Sotutu loose trio thanks. Ardie for big impact in the last 30
