Also, it's facile to claim the English or NZ didn't either. They do - but it's human nature to relax a bit after a big effort; climbing the mountain again so soon is damn hard. It's not one performance that defines you, it's week in, week out effort. McCaw seemed to be the master at this from the outside, just never let down his standards.
Also, the NZ Eng game - we got thrashed by 7 points. Just didn't ever grab our half chances at any stage, and were behind physically. If you do that, you're scuppered

We were soundly beaten, no doubt. Even our try after half time was against the run of play
England played their grand final against us. We played ours against Ireland.
Definitely not. We just beat a pretty shitty Ireland (i.e. played how we usually play).
Would you say our accuracy was better or worse in the semi final?

We played well vs Ireland but couldn't overcome the drop off in performance like we did in the 2015 semi final vs SA

We played well vs Ireland but couldn't overcome the drop off in performance like we did in the 2015 semi final vs SA
We were able to play a tweaked game plan against an Irish team which were not at home in the (above zero) conditions.
Poms were comfortable in conditions and had worked out excellent counters to our Plan A and caught us napping at start to snare 7 quick points.
I felt we were fairly rattled. But that pass from BBBR goes to hand and at 7 all the momentum's all with us.
And in second half we had our chances and fluffed them.
If anything the problem was AB team believed its own PR rather than expecting to have to grind things out.
