    RIP 😞

Shannon Paku and Marty Holah also there. I'm struggling to pick the Wellingtonian on the left, but I recognise him....?

@Bovidae Had Sione Lauaki in our under21 squad at Waitemata , absolute beast ,straight out of Kelston Boys..probably one of the best age group players that I had been involved with when I was coaching , the other or should I say best being Micheal Jones whom I was privileged enough to play with at Waitemata .
Also had a bit of time for kid by the name of Matiu Walters when I was involved with age group , excellent number 7 that had brilliant running lines..on saying that he jammed very well..superb on long bus trips.

This all points to provincial rugby missing out if NZR has to reduce overall costs.

Prospects of Sam Whitelock,Ryan Crotty and Matt Todd playing for Canterbury this year looking more likely
Jordan Taufua to turn out for Ta$man maybe
Mitre 10 may be beefed up this year

@Chris I wouldn't be so sure about that. It all depends on whether the players who are still contracted to clubs in the NH get permission from their clubs. I recently read somewhere that - for that reason - Brodie Retallick might not be allowed to play for the Magpies.

Crotty and Todd are Japan based. I hear they have permission . Whitelock is still contracted to the Crusaders and with his top league season finished will play.

    Taufua was speculation

@Bovidae that article should be why New Zealand Rugby should be embarrassed with their own ineptitude ..

    Hardly a secret.

There is no place like home, just ask All Black and Gallagher Chiefs halfback Te Toiroa Tahuriorangi who has signed to play for the Bay of Plenty Steamers. The 25-year-old has always had plans to return home to play his rugby.

@Chris-B Ta$man must have some wealthy benefactors, or their players are happy to take less from the province because their ABs and franchise contracts are so front loaded?

I wonder what the grants cover? Why does BoP get so much? I would have thought giving Southland more would make sense so they could compete a bit better in the player poaching market with their SI contemporaries.

@Nepia I suspect the players come because Ta$man's fans are so great! 🙂

Grants - I suspect they're done on club player numbers?

Possibly, would Northland have higher club player numbers than Harbour, Otago and the Naki though?

@Nepia last data I saw (5 or 6 years old) Northland had about 7th or 8th highest player numbers...but must be other factors as NH had about 4th highest in same report?
