Hurricanes vs Sharks

@Stargazer Lol Cridge can't even make the Hurricanes development team. Must be really good.
-
@Canes4life I've noticed the condescension in your comment, but I'll let that go. Cridge has been training with the Crusaders during preseason, so maybe he's still there. Or he has to work on Saturday. Plenty of reasons why players don't appear in the line-up of a development team.
-
I think if he wasn’t injured and wanted to make a serious crack at a rugby career he would be available for this match. We might see him in the Crusaders side then if he’s been training down there. Not sure if that has been named yet or not.
-
@Canes4life Damn stole my thunder...well I guess it’s good Flanders is getting game time more then just a 10 min cameo
-
@Canes4life Comedy gold Wellington4life ... we Magpies fans have been harder on Cridge than anyone as he got promoted to the Canes based on his Canterbury heritage, and then promptly got injured and barely played for anyone including the Magpies. Then when he finally got a decent run of games the Canes dumped him and prefer to play a midget lock from Wellington instead.

Begone chiefs fan.

Is this James Marshall at 10

@jegga a midget lock that hasn’t let the jersey down, played the most minutes for the Canes last year and has two times the work rate of Cridge. The fact that not even one NZ side wanted him suggests to me that he is just a bit shit or has a attitude problem.

You would have to wonder,Cridge trained with the Crusaders preseason they then brought in Alex Ainsley over Cridge and Ainsley is still with the squad.Cridge must not of made much of an impression.

@Chris @Canes4life Or he's broken again. Or he's made other career choices. Or he's gone overseas. You're all making assumptions.
There's nothing wrong with Cridge's work rate or attitude. I specifically remember one of the Hurricanes coaches saying one or two years ago - when Cridge was recovering from surgery and training separately from the Canes squad - how hard he trained and how good his attitude was. So that's definitely not it. (I'll try to find the article, if I can find the time).
Look, I'm not saying he's among the best locks in NZ, but he definitely offers something. Work rate is one of them; height another. He's also pretty quick for a giraffe. And he has more experience than some of the rookies. I get that Canes4life is taking a swipe at a Hawke's Bay player because @Nepia (or was it @Higgins?) is banging on about Blackwell being a midget and me saying I don't rate his boy Peter U-J. That doesn't make it true what you're saying about Cridge though. The only fact here is, that we don't know why he's not been picked by either the Canes or Saders for a development game. There are plenty of possible reasons. Having seen him play more than any of you guys, I'm sure "he's a bit shit" or "has a attitude problem" isn't one of them.

Yeah I have seen a lot of Cridge in his early days in coming through the Ranks in CHCH.Alot of people earmarked him for a big future but injuries more than anything stuffed that and probably thats the case again. He always had a good work ethic when he was younger his attitude I don't know about.

Last thing I'm going to say about Cridge, but I think this article from November 2018 illustrates very well why rugby may no longer be Cridge's main career choice. His run with injuries is horrendous, and life goes on and bills need to be paid. I'd certainly understand if he'd decide to focus on life outside rugby (and maybe only play club rugby and NPC).
-
@Stargazer Hey, I'm far from the only one calling our Blackwell as a midget (for a lock, he's a giant compared with most of the population), even Wellington fans are doing it.
I think it's all you setting off @Canes4life with your PUJ comments.
-
@Nepia none of the above actually. It's becoming a bit of a yawn fest that every time a Magpie player misses out on selection, whether that be in the Canes, under 20s etc, more often than not there seems to be some sort of anomosity against a Wellington player for being higher in the pecking order. I've lost count of how many times @Stargazer has posted on his frustration at a non selection of a Hawkes Bay player. On the other hand I appreciate the fact that you guys are passionate about the players from your region, I'm equally as passionate for the guys in Wellington to succeed, but surely aslong as the right person for the job starts then that should end all debate.
At the end of the day if a players deserves to be starting in a Canes, Chiefs, Blues .... jersey then so be it. If Toala ends up being better than PUJ, then good on the kid. It just means the Canes will be stronger and at the end of the day that's all that I care about.

@Canes4life I'd take your comments at face value and not as a bit of a troll if it wasn't for the fact that on other threads you yourself have complained about plodders in the Canes (often the same plodder we're complaining about). IIRC you've also advocated for many of the players that us Magpies fans have (IWL, McClutchie, Flanders etc).
Also you complain about @Stargazer being dismissive of PUJ's abilities when you've done the same for Toala despite being complimentary about him last year. At any rate they're both playing together for the Development team anyway.
Anyway, why shouldn't HB fans be disappointed when our players often struggle to get spots on the Canes but often get picked up by other squads or if we dominate schoolboy rugby and get no players in the secondary schools team? Personally I'd prefer they all played for the Chiefs, but the Canes are supposed to HB's home franchise.
Anyway, most of this kicked off because you called Cridge a lazy player which suggests you really haven't seen him play. Injured all the time, yep, lazy player when he actually plays, nope.
