Stormers v Hurricanes (Round 1)

@macandcheese fair enough. Must leave a very shallow pool of players to follow though.

A bit over the top comment.

Like to comment on the head shots from the Stormers players. That was ignored by the officials.

None if he gets on his high horse about this incident. It happens all the time. It more carelessness as opposed to dirty play. Fifita's yellow card was worse

Utterly terrible to tackle someone around the legs

I'm not convinced you know anything about rugby if you claim a player tackling around the legs makes him a "piece of shit".

@Machpants now South Africans playing the victim, thatās novel..!,the tackle was a tad late, but as much I am no fan of Riccitelli , I am sure it was not intended to dish out that sort of injury ..,just unfortunate in my book..!
-
@Steven-Harris If you have to believe the comments on some of the South African FB pages about Kolisi's injury, Riccitelli intentionally injured the Springboks captain, planned to tackle him late in advance and should face a ban of the same duration as Kolisi's stay in the injury ward!

Why would you do that to yourself?

@antipodean To have a good laugh about all the conspiracy theories going around. Apparently, NZ controls SANZAAR :face_with_stuck-out_tongue_closed_eyes: , resulting in Kiwi players not being carded or "sighted" for offences South African players are being carded or "sighted" for and Kiwis getting shorter suspensions in the few instances our players are being "sighted". And that all while South Africans are paying for Super Rugby. That's apparently also the reason why South African players all move to the NH.
You should have read the complaints about the Jaguares v Lions game being at a later time than initially advertised. They had to stay up for a game that started at 1.00am instead of 11.40pm. The world almost came to an end!

"sighted"
It's the invisibility cloak that Richie handed on. Amazing that a player is sighted at all so that they can be cited.
Also the use of the word is weird - reporting a player for foul play is hardly praising or commending. Being cited in the military is good thing. Being cited is also an official order to appear in court (the rugby meaning). All very contradictory for one word.Context is everything I guess.

If Rugby Cheap Shots was an Olympic Sport then I venture that South Africa would be in with a real good chance at the gold medal.

@Higgins Margins for error are so tight. All players push these margins and are paid to push themselves. Timing errors are going to stay with us along with tackle height. Excellent vid on the Awesome Stuff thread of how game used to beš¬š
Cheap shot would mean intent knowing law is going to be broken and smashing in anyway or higher arm and much as Iām against the game being sanitized past recognition...sadly true in some ways... these guys play a lot of hours at full steam per year. I doubt a lot of us would survive 15 minutes at current intensity speed and ferocity of pro game...Again timing errors...Sad for Kolisi that he misses out and hope he recovers properly. My view was tackle was late but intent I guess only one person knows. But we all back our teams and everyone has some rabid fans. I think us Saffas definitely used to be guilty of more cheap stuff especially when behind....canāt win the match but at least win the fight vibes... EngVFr Sat case in point after try... and maybe that albatross will always be around our necks but I really donāt think there is ANYTHING between top teams on average these days so reckon that gold medal perception definitely not helped by scouring SA rabid fan comments. I dunno...I guess all I try do is swop jerseys hypothetically and try judge every incident like that. Itās really tough sometimes with laws as different as they were and speeds and fitness crazier than ever and I think refs have a tougher than ever job.
We have all enjoyed players with āmongrelā and grafters who push it constantly but judging clear malicious intent is just going to stay a minefield no matter the refs call
Bismarck du Plessis was never the same player after his knee was deliberately targeted and smashed in that Argie test. Sure he was still really good, just never a first choice in a world15 no2 Jersey after that single malicious injury and thatās coz guys just see red mist some days but it does cost.
And maybe a few more people are bleak coz 25 mins after lifting the trophy Kolisi got crocked in a late tackle. And some days SloMo makes it look horrific. Watching Ruben Krugerās leg actually breaking still gives shivers...Refs and TMO should DEFINETELY be spending more time using ACTUAL SPEED footage assessing in my view.
Sorry for rantš

I'm not convinced you know anything about rugby if you claim a player tackling around the legs makes him a "piece of shit".
I watched the "controversial" tackle and relied primarily on what my eyes saw at normal speed - a tackler aiming up, moving in head down and completing the tackle immediately after the ball was passed. When they collide Kolisi has taken less than a full stride and the catcher hasn't caught the ball yet. The linesman had an unimpeded view, did not react and followed the ball runner. The referee had a clear line of sight and showed no spontaneous reaction, he re-entered the frame looking merely inquisitive if anything.
The broadcast commentators, and fans since, drew a long bow on being late; and it certainly wasnāt a ācheap shotā, as the more excitable critics had it. There has been no citing.
I suspect they are getting all indignant more about who was tackled.
Riccitelli would be entitled to quote Andrew Hore, questioning Chris Pollock all those years ago āIs there a new rule that you canāt tackle Dan Carter?ā (Ricky was only 9 years old at the time.)
More importantly, he is due a jolly good thrashing for sticking his scone in the wrong place in the tackle after five years professional rugby!
