Not really an exodus, because he's already overseas, but these tweets were just too good. 😂

This one will surprise probably even Wellington Lions supporters given the flack at least one of them fired his way during the NPC!

@Higgins Yeah, I posted that in the Super Rugby 2020 thread four days ago.

It's says something about the level of play we can expect from the Sunwolves in their last season, if they sign players like him. I guess that's what you get if the Top League competition runs simultaneously to SR and no Top League club is prepared to release players so they can play for the Sunwolves. Their player pool is even further reduced because so many foreigners have signed with either Top League clubs or Major League Rugby clubs, this year.

@Stargazer I had heard whispers that he might have been training with the Melbourne Rebels prior to Christmas.

Don't know where else to post this. This news is more than 3 months old, but I can't remember it being posted and it only reached the NZ media in the past week:

    .
Paul Feeney Appointed as The Kenya Rugby Technical Director

The Kenya Rugby Union has today announced the appointment of New Zealander Paul Feeney as the Kenya Rugby Technical Director effective immediately. In this role, Paul will head the Kenya Shujaa Programme and also support the Simbas, Chipu and Lionesses teams in areas of skills and defence.

Feeney is a World Rugby Level 3 Coach with more than 25 years coaching experience in both sevens and fifteens at the highest levels. He won the 2005 Rugby World Cup 7s with Fiji and has also worked in the All Blacks set up as the New Zealand’s U20’s Position Specific Coach in 2014 and 2015. He was Head Coach of Auckland ITM Cup for four seasons and won two national sevens championships with them. His last posting was as Assistant Coach of the Stormers for the past three seasons working on skills and attack.

KRU has contracted Paul initially to support up to the Olympics Qualifiers but plans to work with Feeney through to the next Rugby World Cup campaign in 2022. We are delighted that Paul has accepted to work with Kenya Rugby and wish him and the teams the very best in the campaign.

I've been keeping an eye on this for months and now it's official, at last.

Matt Matich has signed with Paraguayan team Olimpia Lions and will - as far as I know - be the first and only (?) Kiwi to play in the new Súper Liga Americana de Rugby competition!

    This is getting crazy:

Old Glory DC (Major League Rugby) has signed:

    • Renata Roberts-Tenana (Northland)
    • Declan O’Donnell (Waikato)

Not sure whether this has been posted, but they also signed Apisai Naikatini (Waikato) in October.

@Machpants Nah, all these departures are still relating to players who are playing somewhere else during the 2020 season.

I'd start a 2020 exodus thread for departures after the 2020 SR season.

so the 2019 thread will go for approx 20 months? makes perfect sense...

@mariner4life Nope. MLR is the only NH comp that hasn't started yet. It starts on 8 Feb, so probably no signings to be expected after that date. So only 3 and half weeks to go.

@Stargazer although some of these guys are still playing M10 Cup, so not really exiting?

I dont think Roberts-Te Nana is presently contracted to Northland, but he is one I think they were keen to have back.

@mariner4life You seem to have misunderstood my post. It's not about when a signing is announced but when the player is actually going to play somewhere else.

If tomorrow, someone like Ben Lam announces he has signed with Toulon for the 2020/2021 season, that's a perfect example of an exodus for the 2020 exodus thread.

@taniwharugby Someone can leave and return. We've always posted announcements in the exodus threads of players who were going to play a season in Japan (when it still overlapped M10 Cup) and returning for the following SR season. I don't see how this is any different.
