@Steven-Harris The LDS connection could be part of that. I do remember Logan Daniels name. I see Tim O'Malley is their captain.

@Bovidae I was a little curious about what sort of salaries these guys are on, I can remember talking to the father of Kurt Morath (former Tongan international first five )who played for the San Diego Breakers back in 2016..at the time he was on around 30k and I could recall his father saying , if major rugby gained traction as a competition and if a television network picked it up it would naturally rate because of not only having a growing rugby public but because of the interest in and around 7s being part of the Olympics ..apparently the figures for the first game shown on CBS last year worked to around 500,000 which is not to bad , you only need a little slice of the pie I guess.
I am hearing salaries are increasing each year, from what I do know talking to a couple of players that have headed over..it more than compensates for not getting a super contract ..

Sam Malcolm (Manawatu Turbos) has re-signed with the Toronto Arrows. He also played there last MLR season.

Morgan Mitchell (Southland), who played for the Toronto Arrows last season as well, has signed with the Kamaishi Seawaves, who play in the Japanese 2nd tier Top Challenge League.

What has happened to the glory days where Wales always had really good first fives? Marty McKenzie may have been struggling to get a game in reserve grade back then.

That cupboard has been fairly bare for a number of years. Stephen Jones was pretty good but at international level I’m struggling to think of anyone else. A fair few at regional level over the years but overlooked for “steady” players imo. @MiketheSnow would have a more informed view though.

Sam Davies was very good when he was playing for the U20s but could not fulfill this early promise at the professional level.

Agreed. And wasn't given the time to learn from his mistakes. But back in the fold with Pivac.

Jarrod Evans is the most complete outside half in some time.

Kept Anscombe at 15 at Cardiff Blues.

    But overlooked by Gatland.

Hopefully he has his chance next Saturday and the coming 6N.

Former All Blacks coach Steve Hansen has announced his new job.

Hansen has revealed a new role with Toyota Verblitz in Japan's Top League.

He joins retired All Blacks captain Kieran Read at the side.

Hansen said he signed a contract with Toyota after the Rugby World Cup and the deal helps him stay in the game but also have time with family.

"It's an interesting role. It's not one as head coach. it's more as an advisor, mentor and requires me to be up there between somewhere five to 17 weeks a year," Hansen revealed in a video on allblacks.com.

"The key thing is to go in there and work with the people who are in the environment. The head coach is Simon Cron who I know well and have a lot of time for. He's going to be a very good coach. having the opportunity to help him grow is something that really excites me," Hansen added.
