Arrogance! What's next? How about NZC screw over their fans by selling the broadcast rights to games at home and abroad to two separate providers oh wait.....

    Poor crowd, poor venue.
Should have played at the Basin

The Basin only has a capacity of 6.5K at the moment.

Museum Stand almost back open though.

They would have backed themselves to get a bigger crowd. However, $60 for a T20 is sort of taking the piss. That is expensive, even though you can get 20% off. If I was paying that, I would expect to have the best team playing. 5 T20s is also overkill and it is early in the season. It's hard to care much for these games.

Yeah it'll cost me at least $135 to take the family to Eden Park next weekend, quite a bit more if we want decent seats. That's pretty pricey for a T20.

exactly. was planning to go with a group of 10 workmates - went online to buy the tickets, saw the price and changed the plan to watching it at the pub.

They got around 10K, which wouldn't have fit at the Basin as of today. I'm sure NZC was hoping for a bigger crowd but I wouldn't pay $60 either.

I think they are pricing themsleves out of the market. I was tempted to head along to Eden Park with my lad, but I don't love T20 cricket, and at $80 bucks he's got to be super keen. He's ambivalent - prefers playing to watching. So not going.

Would spend more on Tests and ODI, but realise I'm a minority. Such is life

I paid $60 to go to the T20 here on Christchurch, was a full house so the market was obviously willing to pay it. Was a decent game, although we never got out of second gear and England won easily enough. Good to see us win yesterday to keep the series even.

Taylor just isnt a great T20 batsmen.

Guptill and Munro were deceived by slower balls, which looks to be a good option on this pitch.

I'm his number one fan but agree. He reinvented himself as a world class test and ODI batsmen. His days of smashing it around the ground like he did when he first came on the scene appear to be long behind him.

The issue is that he has the talent, and the intent, but it just hasnt clicked thus far.
You can see him trying to up the momentum, but it is almost like his cricket instincts fight the T20 smashing.

Well he is no Shane Watson, that is for sure....

@Hooroo I'm not sure what Taylor was doing there. He seemed to think "fuck it" and just walked off.

NZ lost their way in the last few overs, having selected one less batsmen. Runs on the board I suppose. 180/7.

Yeah, that's what I meant - it's like he trained most of his attacking instincts out of himself to become a world class test player, and struggles to get them back when in T20 mode.

Good win - thought 180 would be enough with England fielding lots of rookies, but it probably shouldn't have been with Morgan and Vince together at 139/3.

One thing that was notable at the start was they put up the various ages of the players - England trying all sorts of newbies, but of our guys:

    Rossco 35
    Guppy 33
    CdG 33
    Munro nearly 33
    Timmy nearly 31

We need to start blooding some new batsmen.
