RWC: England v France (Cancelled) (Pool C)

Makes a mockery of the competition. Why should England and France face one game fewer than other sides? Massive advantage to them ahead of the knock outs.
Relocate the game up to Sapporo away from the gale. World Rugby should have anticipated this sort of this when they organised a Rugby tournament in Japan during the middle of typhoon season.
They have contingencies for most games in case of Typhoon which includes moving games with 24 hours notice.
Hardly a mockery if one game gets cancelled. No need to be a massive drama queen

Because sport is just sport, whereas the wellbeing of fans, officials, players etc is more important? It's not like they didn't have contingency plans, but this is an unseasonably powerful storm, and no plan survives contact with the enemy.

@Disgusted-of-TW There are plenty of places in Japan where there won't be a Super Typhoon this weekend, the game should have been moved.

@Disgusted-of-TW
This thing. The Hokkaido Shinkansen (high speed train) gets from Tokyo to the northern island in less than 4 hours. The game could have gone ahead up there behind close doors.Gutting for the fans with tickets.

You do know that the trains don't run while there's a typhoon belting the place?

I'm sure it is. What's the real world alternative?

Yes.
The typhoon doesn't hit the Tokyo-area until Saturday so plenty of time to get on a high-speed train if there were 100 or so spaces available for the English and French players, their coaches and support staff.

You make it sound like professional logisticians haven't thought about it ffs.

They should just call the whole damn thing off, such the mockery of a game not being played.
Outrageous!!
If England or France win the cup, it will always be remembered as the "pretend cup" because they missed one game. A travesty!!

It might be the same guys who have designed the competition structures for Super rugby, NPC and the Ranfurly Shield!

Considering the Wallabies are likely to face England, I don't know what is better for us here.
a) Game is cancelled, and England get no meaningful game before the QF bar a win against 14-man Argentina, or
b) A physical game against the French where they might win but also lose a few players to injury.
It probably won't help us much either way, given our clear lack of rugby ability. But still.

Speaking to someone practising Welsh?

It saves Eddie from bringing the game in to disrepute and fielding a B team to throw the match and play Wales not Australia in the QF
