RWC: All Blacks v South Africa (Pool B)

@taniwharugby that's just stupid. If you compare the individual players weight on official stats the Boks are heavier than the ABs man for almost. So when it's added up.thr ABs have the heavier pack? Really π€
-
Just imagine if we played Hayman at no8, how big our pack would be.
-
The good old days? - Found on Redit - 'Kiwis have always been give preferential treatment from referees'
Translation: "The double standards applied by referees when the Boks play New Zealand is not a new occurance. It's been happening for years. Here is a classic example where Chris Laidlaw bites Frik du Preez' hand but the incident was ignored by the referee"
-
@Daffy-Jaffy That is still funny - and I have seen it about 20 times before.
-
@Billy-Webb also two of the best ever players in their positions.

@Rebound talk to the stats people, not me.
Still, the myth of the giant Bokke packs has largely gone the way of French flair.
The size difference of the Boks (at least over NH sides) stemmed from the early days.
Long gone since the professional era with the focus on and improvement in nutrition, conditioning etc.I would argue - and entertain well reasoned counter-argument in triplicate - that the Bok forwards are still near the top when it comes to being a physical challenge though.

yeah, agreed. Making me all nostalgic for the " good" old days
-
@Billy-Webb Now your making me kinda miss being terrified (via a grainy TV picture) by Moaner van Heerden, Theuns Stofberg, Kevin de Klerk, MornΓ© du Plessis (Favourite Springbok), Gerald Bosch, Gerry Germishuys etc.

Absolutely correct - when they are interested. If not, you get Japan losses, and 57-0 at North Harbour. Rassie seems to have kept them interested and motivated, and they are a physical threat. Often we get dominated up front playing them; not many teams you say that about.

I'll have to dig the book out of where ever I packed it to move. But I can tell you it wasn't in Afrikaans.

Laidlaw suffers the combined onslaught of Du Preez and Bates.
