Nothing Bridge or Reece have done in the last couple of games has convinced me that they are the clear best wing combo. They have had good moments but they are just the minimum standard we expect from our wingers.
The way we dealt with the high ball in this game, which wasn’t great, reeces defensive positioning and a couple of silly offloads to no one are still concerning.This “low confidence, out of form” Ioane thing is a myth. If we are judging everyone on those games he played for the ABs this year then most of them should have been dropped.

I remember for the last 2 northern tours when we were endlessly chip kicking, Reiko was seemingly our only attacking threat with ball in hand.
Back peddling, no forwards, give the ball to Reiko and hope he makes a half break or at least some go forward. A job the youngest all black performed admirably.
Hope he has a blinder next game. He's done more in black than the other 2, but overall it's not a bad problem to have I guess

Yeah. Am a fan. Have seen what he can do, but for some reason he hasn't seemingly been getting the ball in the sort of space that the others have.
Maybe that is form, ie, positioning yourself off the ball, maybe it's fitness/sharpness, maybe it's luck.
Just really would like to see him back to his best because he has the speed of the others, but added advantage of size.
A good big man will always ...

It won't be as simple as that. What is happening at training and their GPS data will also be taken into account. But it is hard to force your way back into the starting XV if you aren't playing.
@booboo Ioane played on the right wing for the Blues this season.

I don't know the answer to that. I would say Bridge maybe could as he is everywhere on the field anyway.
If there has to be change then that is the change I would make. Bridge on Right and Reiko on left.
As it stands currently, I wouldn't be making the change and I expect the Reece and Bridge will start against Italy and Reiko the other two matches

@Bovidae yeah I realise they have more data than we see, but based on the way they have treated encumbants previously, seems Ioane has fallen further and quicker than others before him.
GUess it will be telling to see how he responds.

Rieko is stronger and has better top line pace than either Bridge or Reece.
However, Reece is more elusive and has better acceleration and Bridge's workrate and high ball ability would be better (although Rieko isn't too bad under the high ball)
Form seems to be with Reece and Bridge but I'd be happy to see Rieko raise his game and win his spot back , just as I was happy to see Scott Barrett coming roaring back last Saturday.

Reckon you'll see a mix and match the next two weekends, and then the players in form and training well playing Italy onwards.
I wouldn't be surprised if that was Rieko starting, but I woulnd't be surprised if it wasn't, either.

@taniwharugby Remember Ioane was going to play against Tonga but for an injury niggle. It's been a case of bad luck for Rieko (poor team performance and then injury).

@Bovidae yep, and they have always said Injury doesnt drop you down the pecking order too....dont get me wrong, as @Frank says above, competition is great, and seeing if Ioane responds to it will be interesting, as he will need to be on fire in his matches to elevate himself above the other 2 given they performed against tougher opposition.

I was pretty boozed and haven't read most of this thread.
Was this game the best handling performance from the AB's in an age. Apart from Reece dropping a clanger at pace, the distribution and execution of quick ball had me breathless. I don't know how we did some of it

I think the coaching panel should take a bow. They worked out how to nullify the Boks. All their selection calls came off big time too.
Effectively we out Bokked the Boks. I had predicted a nine point AB victory but I must admit to being very concerned in the
lastfirst 20, however once we settled it was relatively comfortable.The Boks don't seem to have the ability to think on the field. It's a trait of theirs. Historically they don't seem to produce sides that can adapt in real time, they need the coach to tell them what to do.
Great game to watch (no streaming issues for me). Pretty happy with that performance - put Brodie back in the engine room and there's not many teams will be able to live with us.
It was a statement of intent. We do have a Plan B and a Plan C too so take your rush defence and your big physical brutes and bring it on.
