Top rated comment on that highlight claims Reece's pass to Smith was forward. Dummies don't even know backward from the hand = not forward. Not a clear cut position. Just how things tend to be reffed nowadays. Once upon a time backwards WAS backwards..

Can't say I agree. Felt the Boks were on top in most scrums and Moody was fairly lucky not to get penalised in the first two scrums.
I was surprised when Moody wasn't penalised there as he clearly had his hand on the ground.
The biggest challenge for the scrum will be against NH opposition as they aren't as familiar and the technique can be different.
Bok TH was pushing slighly downwards and dropping bind to pull down on Moody's arm. THs have been doing so forever but @NTA can confirm if latter no longer legal.
Technically speaking your shoulders should be no lower than your hips, and all binds should be as long as possible to keep arms straight.
In practice? Whatever you can get away with. Moody trends to bind short, so because the THP binds on the outside, his elbow is more likely to point down.
There was really only one scrum decision I felt was rough on the boks, and it was actually Nepo being flat on his face, overextended, which was called a reset.
Bok scrum much better with Snyman on.
Didn't notice Nepo, but agree regarding rest. Moody's elbow went down two or more times. Boks were trying to point this out to ref. At least one of those Malherbe pulled Moody's arm down. And when Garcies went and stood on that side he penalised them.
Replacement props looked OK/good until Malherbe came back and Snyman on. Problems after that.

I get the sense that many here are wishing for Bridge and Reece to have shockers so they can say โI told you so!โ. Feel much better having Bridge under high ball than Rieko. That said how good was Kolbe? So great to see little outside backs can still thrive in test rugby. Has to be form winger in the world. Unbelievable under high ball, great defense and electrifying speed and footwork.

Thought Bridge had a pretty ordinary game eh. A couple of nice touches but more ugly moments, including one where he seemed to almost be avoiding attempting to catch a kick. He really shouldn't be being beaten by a midget in the air.
I totally agree. Rieko is not yet a "Rieko who ?".

For George Bridge's try, before BB received te pass, Bridge had his arm straight out indicating BB to take the gap. Great play.
The second try was caused by ALB spotting that Marx had drifted too far over to him on the right, leaving a spot behind him-and he was too bulky to change course.
Again, lovely play. -

Yeah, we did miss an in form Rieko on the left, he offers a lot more on attack and is as good defensively. Hope they try and play him into some form in the next 3 games.
I think they will have given him the challenge in pool play to regain his attacking form

Are they? Maybe there is the odd person with provincial blinkers but I think most would agree Reece and Bridge are the in form wings. Wing seems to be a position where form trumps experience more than any other. That said, I'm sure Rieko will find form and at his peak is arguably better than the others.

Maybe a little harsh, but plenty would have had Rieko and Bender chosen thatโs a fact. I would understand Bender still being a chance if we were to face Ireland in terrible conditions but bar injury will be tough to drop incumbents. Not sure that a low confidence out of form Rieko can even eclipse Jordie at the moment. My opinion is he should have stayed home for the other Iaone.

@bayimports welcome back. Does the timing of your return have anything to do with a certain 20+ win against the Taniwha today ๐
Lol not quite, but any win against the Taniwha is great. RWC certainly main focus, but happy nonetheless that BoP are playing well

Nothing Bridge or Reece have done in the last couple of games has convinced me that they are the clear best wing combo. They have had good moments but they are just the minimum standard we expect from our wingers.
The way we dealt with the high ball in this game, which wasnโt great, reeces defensive positioning and a couple of silly offloads to no one are still concerning. This โlow confidence, out of formโ Ioane thing is a myth. If we are judging everyone on those games he played for the ABs this year then most of them should have been dropped.

I remember for the last 2 northern tours when we were endlessly chip kicking, Reiko was seemingly our only attacking threat with ball in hand.
Back peddling, no forwards, give the ball to Reiko and hope he makes a half break or at least some go forward. A job the youngest all black performed admirably.
Hope he has a blinder next game. He's done more in black than the other 2, but overall it's not a bad problem to have I guess

Yeah. Am a fan. Have seen what he can do, but for some reason he hasn't seemingly been getting the ball in the sort of space that the others have.
Maybe that is form, ie, positioning yourself off the ball, maybe it's fitness/sharpness, maybe it's luck.
Just really would like to see him back to his best because he has the speed of the others, but added advantage of size.
A good big man will always ...

If Reiko does have a blinder against Canada and Namibia, does that actually mean anything?
Also, of the two incumbents, who is in the firing line to be replaced by Reiko? Reece?

Can either Bridge or Rieko play right wing?
