RWC: All Blacks v South Africa (Pool B)

Delighted to win. ALB was magical tonight. Moody made a lot of tackles. BB's passing for the Bridge try and Coles' pass before Scotty Barrett's try were excellent. Discipline the best for a long time.
Looked a bit rusty still. Some confusion in attack and we gave away a very soft try. Lots to work on before the knock outs.

Saying a ref favours the ABs is pretty disrespectful to all of the professional refs. For starters that Barnes game and the Lions non offside penalty are two howlers that cost us big time.
Tbh I think itβs swings and roundabouts, If I gave a bigger fuck I would go through the game and highlight the poor calls against the ABs. From what I remember the penalty against Whitelock for interfering in the lineout was a shocker, in replay he makes an effort to avoid the bok lock.
I think the penalty was against Patty T who took a lifter out. But you never know with Garces.
One non-call that pissed me off was a high tackle on Ardie where the Bok player had him in a headlock.
Oh ok I missed that, but yeah that headlock and the shoulder in head in Aus game are two glaring misses in an area they are pedantic about.

Just read elsewhere the officials missed the clear knock on by Kolbe when he throws ball forward before going into touch, BB runs it out from goal line and subsequent play we pass it to the SA player in our backline. Should have been our advantage and back for knock on.

Disagree. Advantage should be over for a knock on if you make 15 metres which we did.

Does the 10 metre space gained within your goal line count? Surely discretion can be used, no way we got more advantage being trapped by our goal line. The advantage rules on attack at a tryline are huge compared to elsewhere. Maybe Iβm getting confused between penalty advantage and knock on advantage.

Na, once the penalty for offside that was that.
Well, if it was given.
Genuinely baffled by twitterati. When entire comms team and all pundits (7/8 Uk) say NZ nailed by a couple of bad decisions youβd sort of expect some humility .... but noooooo must make videos of Dane Coles in from the side and try to make viral.
Itβs pathetic.

@NTA What's your call NTA? Penalty only?
Reckon @NTA thinks Mo'unga should have been Red Carded for holding on.

Think he was hard done by there.
He let go of the player far more than Mo' let go of the ball
.Nice twist of narrative there. You shou l be on Twitter.
Mo'unga wasn't given the opportunity to release.

Now that was the biggest joke of a penalty.
Bok lifters drop player and ABs penalised.
This. Fuck Garces.
Hah!! My auto correct wants to replace the Refs surname with "Faeces".
-
@chimoaus I thought world rugby had said they would be onto players getting in a strong position over the ball but not actually trying to win it.
I saw plenty of shit Garces missed that would have helped us, so I expect he missed a ton the other way too, which SA fans and those with the anti-AB-chip will only see....
All in all, that was as you would expect between these 2 sides, some nerves, some brutal defence, some messy stuff but largely quality.

Short thoughts:
So much precision in the AB play - hardly any mistakes. Handling really impressive
Crotty didn't go off injured
BB at 15 is lethal on counter-attack
AB defence was outstanding. Ritchie has serious wheels
Bridge and Reece or BFA & Reiko. Who'd be an opposition coach?SA 11 & 14 look real class
Kolisi is a good captain - kept his team together when it could have fallen apartLike the way the ref let the game flow.
Glass half full?
