@Nepia I'd predict the first three, too. SI: no idea.
I guess it depends on whether Nelson College is an invitational XV like it's double-province franchise - maybe @Chris-B can give us some guidance?

Hmmmm, if Invitational XV is another word for "poachers", then King's and Hamilton Boys definitely deserve that label.

That doesn't suit my agenda at this particular time.

@Bovidae I don't think Otago BHS has played CBHS, this year. Not for a spot in the Top 4, anyway. It's Nelson College who beat CBHS in the UC Final and, therefore, qualified for the SI Final.
They play each other every year. This year Otago won I think

Bingo. It's a traditional fixture. OBHS won 37-27 in early July.
I'll add that home advantage tends to be important in the Top 4 finals so I would favour Otago.

You wha...oh, sorry, it's you!
I almost didn't recognize you from the days when you were Nelson Bays' rivals in Division II.
How ARE things down there?!!

I have finally watched the AKL A1 final involving St Kents and Kings. First school boy rugby I have watched in years and was surprised at the standard. A shitload better than when I was at school - admittedly a long time ago.
This might be a stupid question but why do they have a Co-Ed division? I thought that meant girls and boys at the same school, but it is unlikely to have a girl in the boys 1st 15 and I would hope the other way around too. LGBT whatever of course. So why have a separate comp? What is it?

To answer your question without the culture wars BS, it's because generally co-ed schools are weaker and aren't good enough to compete for the Top 4 .

CO-ED DIVISION
Blues Final
St Kentigern College 88 - Rangitoto College 7What a mockery, the fishheads should have stepped in and banned St Kents from the division.
St Kents used to be in the co-ed comp before moving up with the big boys.
It is a joke but schools need to specify which competition they wish to qualify for by the end of term 2 I think. King's were guaranteed to be the Auckland qualifier for the Top 4 before the 1A final.
I read that St Andrews aren't even the best co-ed school in the UC. That was Rangiora.

Winning, qualifying and "best" are quite different things.
In general co-ed schools struggle to have strong teams. While girls aren't in the boys teams, they do mean half the roll isn't able to play. Hamilton Boys High is the biggest school in Hamilton anyway, but counting boys it is three times the size of the others.
St Kent's are different because they buy in a team more or less completely. That's what needs to be fixed, not which competition they play in.
