Northland's injury list is starting to grow after three players, all loose-forwards, picked up injuries against Southland on Thursday night.
Aorangi Stokes, Sam McNamara and Kane Jacobson all left Rugby Park Stadium prematurely in the Taniwha's 27-17 win over their southern foes two nights ago. Stokes, who started at number eight, was taken off for a head injury assessment in the second half, which he failed.
Blindside flanker McNamara came off with a shoulder injury in the first half and was replaced by Jacobson. The reserve almost made it through to 80 minutes until an injury saw him supported from the field by medical staff.
All three are considered in doubt for Thursday's vital clash against Auckland in Northland's first home game of 2019 until more information on the injuries is made available today.
Those players could add to the list of five already injured Northlanders, midfielder Tamati Tua, flanker Tom Robinson, first five Dan Hawkins, halfback Harrison Levien and outside back Rene Ranger.
Both Robinson (meniscus tear) and Tua (suspected high ankle sprain) were expected to be out for a couple of weeks, while Hawkins could possibly be available for selection against Auckland.
Levien, who has had concussion issues, was being considered week by week for his selection. Ranger (ruptured ACL) would be unlikely to feature for Northland this season.
Fano Fanaki who can play blindside flanker and lock from the Waipu squad and Jared Byrnes who can play 7 or 6 from the OBM club have been added to the squad..

Got my interest really piqued by 2007 RWCI'm not a typical rugby fan from a rugby background or from a rugby playing nation
You won't find a single rugby fan from my country of Origin

Some supporters may have noticed that, this year, the Counties Manukau PIC Steelers have a new crest which features the KÄeaea, being the New Zealand falcon. When the Steelers recently discussed who they represented and where their identity came from, it was found that crucial aspects of our identity were laying undiscovered. Knowing that identity and belonging are fundamental elements in the sustained success of a team, the Steelers coaching team researched our history and worked hard to identify what it means to be a Steeler and part of Counties Manukau Rugby.
The Steelers coaching team determined that the KÄeaea (which is a bird of prey that actively seeks out, strategises, and overpowers its target) encapsulates the values and character of a Steeler. The KÄeaea acts as the Kaitiaki (guardian) of the part of the Counties Manukau region where the iron sand lays at Karioitahi Beach (which is why steel is produced in the province) as well as the Waikato River and Manukau Harbour. As Kaitiaki, it is armed to protect and enhance our sea, sky and land.
With its world renowned speed, precision and spectacular strategies, the KÄeaea was deemed to be a powerful representation of Counties Manukau Rugby. With this in mind, the union developed a new crest that connects Counties Manukau with this prestigious guardian that represents key aspects of our identity.

@Duluth That Plummer grubber kick that Clarke latched onto was meant for TJ. It was one of our go to plays last season and it basically worked every single time. Good to see we haven't forgotten about it and will likely keep doing it through the season.
