On the looseforward combination it really doesn't matter what number they have on their back now. It's about their role
Roles have changed from 30 years ago, even 10 years ago, when 6 or 7 or 8 meant distinct requirements and running lines from players wearing those numbers.
It's different now.

Anyway , Read at 6 , ardie at 8, cane at 7, is the big interest for me ,
I really want to see what that looks like,
Credit to the coaches if they have a crack at that .
I'm thinking the will keep Read at 8, but use Savea off the back of scrums on our own ball.
thought about this on the drive to work,
Cane to 6, Savea 7, Read at 8.Cane at blindside because hes our most punishing defender and closest to what Kaino used to bring.
Read isn't a 6, so has to start at 8 - heck if he wasn't Captain, he mightn't even start. Savea at 7 because thats where hes going to be effective.
I also think this because Todd will be our bench loosie
I think the three will also move around at scrum time, which is going to be super fun for the opposition to shut-down, because they'll have to figure out what we're doing.
I think its a better balance, I think Savea & Cane are used to be on the side of scrums.
I think Todd will be bench loosie, because I don't trust any of the other current loosies to go 75min if we lost someone in the first 5min, and I think they'll want Todd to come on and go 100mph - to keep up the pace they set early. With Todd on the bench that would allow us to unleash our triple-openside secret weapon to finish the game. The problem the Wallabies had is they didn’t take it far enough. Two 7s lacks balance, three 7s creates an unstoppable whirlwind of turnovers at nearly every ruck.

World cup final. Savea to 12, Jacobson to 6, Cane to 7.
And of course Todd on the bench.

According to some a few months back we should apparently be considering Jordie B at 10 as well.
Glad that noise has died down.Isnt he too tall?

@Canerbry he wants to see at least two of you, preferably three. Your shout of course!
Some fern nostalgia - Syd Bledisloe 15 years ago I think was the last time and he did indeed shout me and the wife a bottle of wine.
I don't even recall any violence even though we discussed our opinions on various Canterbury players. I definitely remember mentioning that midget full back Ben Blair.
A most excellent pub crawl of Queenstown though.Just checked - it's exactly 15 years ago today. ABs won 23 -18.
There really is feck all happening sports wise at the moment...

@SouthernMann will have the team soon enough.
