News Flash: SBW played the full 80 mins in Katikati today so still in one piece.
Not necessarily one piece, could've played through a 'niggle' that now means x weeks on the sidelines...

Can anyone explain why Cane is not seen as the 6 rather than Savea?
It depends on what they want from their no.6. Cane hasn't played much at 6, but I don't think Ardie has either.
At the backend of the Chiefs season, Cane and Boshier played together but from memory Cane still played as the traditional openside rather than left and right flankers.

I don’t get why so many are worried about form right now. Yes there are test matches to play, but the season has only just started and some players are only just building their workload and once they have that up they can launch from there.
I don’t doubt there are selection questions that from the armchair remain a mystery, but if we are going through those that have been criticised as “not at their best”, for example Ioane and Read, I actually think they will come right.
Looking forward to the big show I suppose. We really haven't been very good for a while though - hence the angst.
Form, selections and combinations aren't great.
You may well be right that it is all good and our powder is drier than a Nuns (can't say it 'cause Google censorship Nazis))
The Rieko thread was nonsense to start with, and I think Read will stand up when the time comes.

The problem with this talk, just to add to the confusion
In recent times we usually look more comfortable against the wallabies, so it will be difficult to know how much to read into a better performance
Without any knowledge of what it’s like for the players and team in the lead up to a Wallabies test, I do get the sense that we lift because we are playing to retain the Bledisloe and that means something to players, NZ rugby, fans.
Yep, they have made it clear the bledisloe is the second most important trophy and they do lift to secure that,
But there is the other talking point where the wallabies play a game style we are more comfortable and used to, their defence in particular

@Machpants but that is impressive isn't it?

Because the other teams are in the same boat. It's not like they're all settled and peaking now.
Last year we lost the matching game to the Boks, but failed to lift much after that. Why is this year different?
Read, meanwhile has come right. His current form is the form he was in all last year too. You're not hoping he'll get back to his form, you're trusting he'll somehow be able to turn back the clock four years.

Looks even more massive in Counties strip. What's the latest on Crotty?

I think the word is surprising, rather than impressive

Perry has been training/re-habbing with the squad since it was named earlier this month.
Selectors clearly see a role for him seeing as they're keeping him as close to the squad as possible.
I wonder if this one also came from the top?
