Didn't have a problem with it on the replay they showed.
Snyman entered that ruck from the side so even if you think the cleanout is fair it should have been a penalty to the ABs.
Hopefully we get some good news on BBBR.
Meh, wasn't outrageous so hardly a massive call.
Agree. It was marginal though and it wouldn't have been a surprise if a penalty was blown. Clear out was possibly in front of the player with the hindmost feet and debateable as to whether a bind was before/simultaneous the impact.
The unfortunate result is the reason those laws are in place.
I'm not having a grizzle about it though, it was just a shit outcome. He came partially through the gate - but the usual interpretation applies, they have such a wide 'gate' these days it's not funny. Basically it's a strong cleanout, given how late in the ruck it was, and how big the ruck was, it looked dodgy, but as people say it happens multiple times a game.
DMac and BBBR are big losses for us at this cup. If we win from here, it's a 'thank god' moment, not an 'expected that' moment. Feels like the tales of 1991 (I wasn't following rugby at that stage in my life)

the ABs have had to do without Brodie quite a bit recently. He would be a big loss but they will have to find a way to cope and adjust if that is the case.
the qtr finals are 3 months away - if it is just a dislocation he might be a chance for those.

53 days to the opening game of the RWC. 7 1/2 weeks.
4 weeks of pool play until the quarters.
2 weeks until the final.
It's close folks Strap in, going to be a fun ride on the way there. 1995 all over again perhaps?

they would have to be confident of a comeback date for him as you cant really carry him in a squad of 31 if he doesn't get to play.
we don't need him in the pool tbf.
scotland aren't pushovers anymore!
lets see what the scan result is. He looked in a lot of trouble on the field after the incident so not too hopeful based on that.
why is it 1995 all over gain?

@DaGrubster Agreed, but honestly if we can't beat Scotland without BBBR, then we really don't deserve to win the Cup. The problem with picking BBBR and not playing him till the playoffs is the workload that Whitelock and Barrett will now have to carry. It really is a blow as it just doesn't effect lock selection, but potentially Barrett's move to blindside as well.

Let’s be clear.
It was a bad clearout, in from the side.
But in synch with what was allowed during the game. Hence, it was fine.
Retallick not been the same this year, so I’m not unduly bothered. If he’s out, so be it. It won’t be the losing of the WC, but significantly less likely to be the winning either.

Agree with the bolded part but I haven't given up hope BBBR will be available just yet. If the prognosis is he can be available for the playoff stages I'd still pick him, and select an extra lock to cover. It would be worth the risk given how important he is.
I don't get the comparison to 1991, and you are not the only person to mention this. 2015 was more like 1991 in that many veterans (centurions) were holding on for another RWC cycle. Outside of Franks, Read and SBW you can't say it's the same. Perhaps more like 1999 where there was a desire to have the best players on the park irrespective of their best current position.

I'm bothered, not cos BBBR is the hugely important piece he previously has been, but because SW, SB, and BBBR are an awesome locking trio for the squad. Don't need another with those 3, a loose forward who can cover for minnows. But now we have to put pat t instead, and he's a long way off the top three and not a great injection off the bench. Maybe hemopo instead, at least he's dynamic

Agreed. It seems the problem right now is that our depth is not quite as strong and we haven't fully adapted to the new style of rugby.

Was thinking of Zinny's injury in '95 (anda pparently Robin too - vastly underrated player)
Zinzan Brooke damaged his Achilles tendon and was picked for the Cup but unable to play for a few weeks, and his younger brother Robin had a similar troublesome injury.https://www.nzherald.co.nz/rugby-world-cup-2011/news/article.cfm?c_id=522&objectid=10745228

Looks like a contributing factor to the damage was for some reason one of the ABs on the ground (can’t see who) had his arm locked around BBBR’s right leg, so when Wun Wun grabbed his left leg Brodie could get his balance back.
Aggressive cleanout, in from the side, made worse by friendly fire I reckon.
